At Acre, we have over two decades of sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) experience.
Since 2003, we’ve been connecting talented candidates who have the ability to make an impact with progressive organisations to drive sustainable change.

We work with companies to place changemakers into CSR jobs around the world.

We work with a range of organisations, from small start-ups to some of the world's best known brands. Our track record is unrivalled - we’ve placed more candidates in sustainability roles than any other recruitment agency worldwide.

Our experience in sustainability and CSR recruitment also means that we have developed an extensive network of CSR and sustainability professionals, clients and companies.

What is CSR?

CSR is a self-regulating business model which supports organisations to be socially accountable to themselves, their stakeholders and the general public.
By practising corporate social responsibility, organisations have to be conscious of the impact they are having across all parts of society, including economic, social and environmental.
An organisation that engages in CSR should operate in a manner that enhances both society and the environment, rather than contributing negatively towards them.
The demand for CSR roles will only grow as businesses become more socially and environmentally focused - and, with that, the need for CSR positions will only continue to evolve.

Why is CSR important?

CSR helps organisations become more socially responsible, creating a better relationship between a company, its shareholders, the general public and its wider community.

Therefore, CSR is valuable for both the community and the organisation as a whole. The result of CSR is that the more a business invests in CSR professionals, the closer the business will be to working towards achieving the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

CSR activities are known to boost morale, increase retention and enable employers to feel more connected to the world around them.

What type of sustainability officer jobs can you find at Acre?

We connect highly driven sustainability officers to companies who want to create change and make the world a better place.

For over 10 years, our sustainability recruitment team has been placing highly qualified sustainability officers in roles across the globe. This includes positions in NGOs, real estate and international corporations.

What sustainability skills do companies need?

Depending on an individual's area of focus, the company and the specifics of their role, the technical skills required in a chief sustainability officer role can vary widely.

There has been an increase in demand for sustainability professionals, particularly chief sustainability officers; however, there aren’t enough highly trained professionals to meet this demand, which has led to a prominent shortage of sustainability talent.

Everyday, we help organisations create and fill these positions. We then benchmark sustainability candidates against our bespoke framework of non-technical skills - providing us with an indication of their potential to lead in their role.

This bespoke framework has been built on data of over 2,000 hard working professionals and determines what “good” in CSR roles looks like.
