ESG Director

Acre is working with a leading organisation in the industrial solutions sector, seeking a Director of ESG to drive their sustainability vision and establish new industry benchmarks.

​

ESG is an important priority for the organization, as such the ESG director role reports directly to the CEO. We're looking for someone who brings solid knowledge of building and executing ESG strategies - both from a technical point of view, and from a business and commercial viewpoint.

The ESG Director will play a critical role in shaping and executing a comprehensive ESG strategy across all aspects of the organisation. Driving a culture of sustainability excellence, the Director will elevate the company's ESG performance and position it as a responsible industry leader. This role will influence internal governance, external stakeholder relationships, and industry-wide sustainability advocacy.

You will be responsible for:

• Developing and Implementing ESG Strategy: Design and execute a forward-looking ESG strategy that aligns with the company's mission, ensuring integration across all business operations.

• Driving the company's position as an ESG leader in their industry: Work closely with the business unit management and commercial teams to help position the organization towards its clients as an ESG leader; take part in critical client meetings where necessary.

• Compliance and Reporting: Oversee ESG compliance, ensuring adherence to regulations such as CSRD and CBAM. Manage ESG data collection and reporting processes, enabling accurate disclosures and transparent sustainability communication.

• Stakeholder Engagement and Advocacy: Act as the company's ESG expert, fostering internal sustainability awareness and engaging with customers, investors, industry associations, and regulatory bodies to enhance ESG credibility.

• Risk and Opportunity Management: Identify ESG risks and opportunities, ensuring a proactive approach to environmental impact, ethical sourcing, and corporate governance best practices.

For the ideal candidate, we're looking for:

• 6-10 years of ESG experience in an international environment, ideally within industrial or manufacturing sectors.

• Strong business acumen in sustainability, governance, and stakeholder engagement, coupled with excellent communication skills and a pragmatic, solution-oriented mindset.

• Proven expertise in ESG regulations such as CSRD and other evolving disclosure frameworks, with a track record of successful ESG reporting and compliance.

• Leadership experience in a matrix organisation, with the ability to influence diverse stakeholders, lead cross-functional teams, and drive ESG initiatives across global locations.
