J. & J. Denholm operates in the fields of Shipping, Logistics, Seafood and Industrial Services. Denholm Good Logistics is one of the Group's largest and most complex businesses, specialising in global shipping and logistics services, and continually pushing boundaries to deliver cutting-edge services.

In this newly created role, as the Group Sustainability and Environmental Manager, you will be responsible for guiding the overall sustainability performance of Denholm Good Logistics while acting as a central point of contact for all the companies within the Denholm Group.

What will you do in this role?

  • Lead Sustainability Initiatives:Develop and implement comprehensive sustainability strategies, ensuring compliance with environmental legislation and embedding sustainable practices organisation-wide.

  • Drive Performance:Monitor key environmental metrics and guide the company toward achieving its Net Zero goals. You'll use metrics and take a data-led approach as you lead the development of the corporate sustainability report and contribute to the Group's Annual Report and Financial Statements.

  • Foster Engagement: Build a sustainability engagement strategy to inspire and educate colleagues, ensuring sustainable development is central to decision-making processes.

  • Champion Change: Being a central point of contact on all sustainability issues, advising others and using your expertise to champion change and drive impact and improvement through collaboration.

So, who are you, and what do you bring?

  • Strategic Leader: You demonstrate proven management-level experience in Environmental & Sustainability roles, with strong influencing skills to collaborate effectively across different departments, geographies, and elements of the varied supply chain.

  • Sustainability Expert:You have knowledge of frameworks like TCFD, ISO14001, SBTi, and greenhouse gas accounting principles. You are comfortable with regulatory horizon-scanning and keeping up to speed with market trends, ready to bring these to the group and action wherever relevant.

  • Analytical Problem Solver: You have skills in assessing operations, defining problems, and driving improvements. Always seeking an opportunity to improve and accelerate the Sustainability strategy which you have created.

The position is based in the Northwest, ideally Manchester, and we are open to candidates in areas in the wider region including Merseyside, Warrington, Greater Manchester, West Yorkshire and Hull. There is some travel expected, and this role is on a hybrid working basis.
