Acre is working with an advisory consultancy that supports institutions around the world as they accelerate their transition to sustainability, circularity, and social equality, and face the twin challenges of decarbonisation and halting the degradation of nature. They help their clients to operate successfully in the context of rapidly shifting policy and regulatory frameworks, and customer and campaigning pressure.
This organisation is searching for a Managing Consultant to lead key areas of client relationships and project initiatives, working closely with its team to develop, articulate and deliver sustainability strategies. You will be working and managing a team of senior consultants, consultants, and analysts in Indonesia, Singapore and Malaysia. The team is expected to evolve and expand in other regions in Asia. You will be in charge of project delivery, ensuring timely, robust and high- quality advisory for clients, utilising the resources available to you. This position will also be responsible for contributing to the development of business opportunities that align with the go-to-market strategy.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead priority areas of the organisation's relationship with key clients, delivering excellence in project outcomes and building trusted partnerships that realise extended opportunities
Proactively contribute to the development and growth of the organisation's sustainability strategies consulting offer in Asia, identifying and pursuing business
Manage several ongoing projects with diverse team members, ensuring high quality delivery, meeting deadlines and managing client expectations
Forge strong relationships with key subject-matter experts within the organisation's global operations and leverage their knowledge to deliver better client solutions
Carefully manage the human resources available to you within project teams on client assignments and business development, and build resource capability to support business
Work closely with the organisation's Director of APAC, Managing Director, Partners, and finance team to ensure all assignments meet its commercial metrics and manage budget decisions that relate to successful project outcomes
Build a team of high calibre and exceptional talent, and play a hands-on role in the development of career pathways for those in your team
Identify and contribute to marketing opportunities that extend the brand reputation in the Asia market
In this role, your work will include strategic stakeholder management and mediation, and relate to business, government and civil society. This organisation works extensively with private companies, the public sector and other organisations across the region. The industries they work in this region include forestry, agriculture (including palm oil), mining, aviation, and retail. Globally, they work with entertainment, fashion, finance, and many more.
Key Requirements:
Experience working in the region. Experience in consultancy, especially managing a team is essential.
A specific and developed capability in the delivery of sustainability-related tools that support client needs.
A minimum of six years' experience in sustainability strategy development and consulting. A minimum of eight years' working experience overall.
Understand the business culture and environment in Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore. Ability to speak Bahasa Indonesian/Malay is strongly preferred.
Able to manage several projects ongoing and ensuring high quality delivery, managing client expectations and meeting deadlines
Experience in working on commodities in the region; for example: palm oil, coconut, mining, forestry, pulp, and paper.
Able to demonstrate working knowledge on key regional and commodity certification schemes and systems. Such as RSPO, ISPO, FSC, EUDR, etc.
Experienced in conflict mitigation, working with regional and international Civil Society
Organisations (CSOs), NGOs, governments and native communities. Experience working in CSO/ NGO is a major advantage, especially if candidate has led campaigns on key commodities and companies in the region.
Excellent analytical and strategic thinking capability.
Confident consulting skills, including workshop leadership and co-creation initiatives with clients.
An entrepreneurial spirit that supports the growth and development of the consultancy.
Familiarity with the deployment and analysis of qual/ quant research and data-based evidence to support project recommendations.
Effective team leadership and mentoring skills.
