Are you looking for an opportunity to join a growing organisation in a newly created role where you can have a broad remit with extensive reporting requirements?

Acre is partnering with Premier Inn to hire their first ESG Manager to set up ESG risk analysis and risk management processes as well as reporting and the shaping of the Sustainability strategy for the business in Germany. You will be dynamic and engaging, with detailed knowledge and experience of ESG reporting requirements.

Premier Inn is part of Whitbread PLC, a FTSE 100 company based in the UK. In the UK Premier Inn has 850 hotels and 400 restaurants and in Germany, they are a fast-growing brand since 2015 which now has 59 open hotels with more in the pipeline aiming to grow even further.

In this role, you will be:

  • Working cross-functionally in the German operation to provide the central Sustainability team (based in the UK) with year-end ESG performance metrics, ensuring visibility of the whole business performance for ESG

  • Conducting & analysing the supplier risk assessment of German suppliers (human rights and environmental), establishing and monitoring with the local procurement team supplier risk management processes as well as corrective action plans

  • Training of procurement and other relevant teams on ESG matters

  • Acting as Human Rights Officer as per the requirements of the German Supply Chain Due Diligence Act Responsible for establishing and continuously improving processes, embedded in the functional departments, ensuring Premier Inn remains compliant with new ESG regulation (specifically the German Supply Chain Due Diligence Act, EU Deforestation Act (EUDR), Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) and Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD))

  • Working with the commercial and operations teams to help achieve sustainability accreditations for the German Premier Inn hotels

  • Collaborating with a wide range of stakeholders across Sustainability, General Counsel, Procurement, Property & Finance, Commercial as well as externally with Suppliers, Third Party Auditors, Assurance providers and Legal Counsel across Germany and Austria

  • Leading on any new ESG specific data software service providers in establishing the system structure, templates, and dashboards such as Sedex

This role will suit someone eager to gain experience across the whole suite of ESG Reporting. You don't need experience with all reporting requirements, but an openness and willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment is key.

You will bring:

  • Analytical skills - able to manage and analyse data and present findings confidently

  • A clear understanding of EU ESG reporting frameworks and how they impact businesses and suppliers

  • Working knowledge of sustainability policies and procedures as well as ESG reporting metrics

  • A collaborative nature in order to work with internal and external stakeholders to successfully engage them on ESG

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to speak fluent German and English and be able to work from the Frankfurt office 3 days a week

  • A proactive approach with the ability to project manage and deliver complex projects in a timely manner
