Acre is collaborating with a private equity fund manager that specializes in investments in emerging markets infrastructure, such as transportation, logistics, and renewable energy. Their aim is to generate appealing returns while also fostering sustainable economic growth and prosperity in the areas they target, ultimately benefiting both the regions and their investors.
Headquartered in Copenhagen and with offices in Dubai, Singapore, and The Hague, this organization acknowledges the lasting influence of current infrastructure investments on the future. Aspiring to play a proactive role in the shift towards low-carbon practices, this firm is looking to onboard an ESG Manager with relevant experience within the financial sector to be based in their office in The Hague.
As an ESG Manager, you will report to the Head of ESG and will be primarily responsible for E&S risk and opportunity assessment in deals and performance monitoring and optimization of portfolio companies, building ESG best practices and support processes in close cooperation with the investment team and portfolio company board representatives.
This position is full-time, and as they have other offices and a focus on growth markets, you should expect some travel activity.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct ESG due diligences of prospect investments projects across various sectors such as infrastructure and energy, among others.
Gather and analyze available information to identify gaps against the IFC Performance Standards.
Identify and develop risk mitigation measures and value-add solutions, supporting portfolio companies' performance.
Support investment teams on ESG risk management in investment decision-making throughout the investment cycle.
Contribute to the development of ESG legal conditions for investee legal agreements.
Oversee and enhance performance while actively interacting with portfolio companies to ensure compliance with IFC requirements while also preparing quarterly and annual reports.
Collaborate with the investment team for capacity building with portfolio companies on matters related to ESG performance.
Coordinate internal and external stakeholders supporting the ESG due diligence process, including development of ToRs, ensuring the timely completion of deliverables.
Contribute to the design and delivery of learning programs on sustainability and environmental risk management for internal investment teams.
Travel regularly to PortCos in emerging market countries.
Key Requirements:
Over eight years of experience across ESG due diligence in an international context gained either in consulting or an in-house role within a Development Financial Institution, private markets investor or impact investor.
Master's university degree in environmental management, economics, social science, engineering or a related field.
Demonstrated track record working with international financial institutions and World Bank Group Standards.
Robust experience working across emerging markets, ideally Africa and Asia Pacific.
Strong analytical skills and the ability to analyze and synthesize data for strategic decision-making.
Sound project management skills, able to handle various activities simultaneously, coordinate multiple information systems and meet deadlines.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, especially in complex environmental and social issues that can be understood by non-experts
Strong interpersonal skills and stakeholder management skills, having the ability to work collaboratively in an international and fast-paced team environment.
Fluent in spoken and written English. Additional language skills in French, Portuguese and/or Spanish are a plus.
