About the Role

Acre is working with a market-leading client seeking an experienced and energetic strategist to lead their sustainability communications and ESG reporting offers.

This is a unique opportunity to join an end-to-end creative agency known for using creativity to drive business change. As a Director, you will deliver the ambition to offer the most compelling and robust sustainability communications and ESG reporting, working closely with the partner group.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Development: Develop a world-class reporting offer, leading the entrepreneurial development of ESG and sustainability reporting and communications.

  • Client Advisory: Provide strategic counsel on reporting needs, addressing key issues such as value creation, business models, strategy, stakeholder engagement, purpose, culture, values, risk, and governance.

  • Project Management: Manage and deliver reporting projects from inception to completion, ensuring excellence and identifying opportunities for organic growth.

  • Business Development: Leverage your network to source new business leads, create and lead pitches, and develop new business opportunities.

  • Thought Leadership: Raise the profile of the ESG offer by being a subject matter expert, speaking at industry events, and writing thought leadership pieces.

  • Team Management: Line manage and mentor direct reports, ensuring they are challenged and supported to reach their full potential.

  • Team Upskilling: Upskill the multidisciplinary team in the latest developments in sustainability communications and ESG reporting.

  • Client Impact/Relationship Building: Develop long-term client relationships, fostering trust and building credibility.

  • Strategic Thinker: Offer sound strategic advice based on an understanding of clients' businesses, industries, regulatory requirements, and trends in reporting.

  • Communication Skills: Present effectively and confidently, respond appropriately to room dynamics, actively listen, and deliver clear and concise instructions/advice.

  • Organisational Skills: Prioritise, juggle multiple projects, and delegate efficiently.

  • Leadership: Lead by example, deliver collaboratively, and promote shared learning.

  • Creative Problem Solving: Strive to problem-solve creatively and encourage others to do the same, delivering impactful ideas.


Experience and Qualifications

  • Extensive hands-on experience advising on and delivering ESG and sustainability reporting and communications.

  • Knowledgeable in major global frameworks such as SASB, ISSB, GRI, TCFD, and GRESB, and current/incoming ESG reporting regulations like EU CSRD and ESRS.

  • Proven track record in turning reporting against frameworks into compelling investor and stakeholder communications.

  • Experience in investor-leaning ESG, digital communications, brand, and employee engagement is highly advantageous.

  • Experience working in a specialist creative agency or as an in-house Head of Sustainability.

  • Strong understanding of the evolving regulatory and best practice landscape in the UK, EU, and globally.
