Are you looking for your second or third step in your sustainability career to a strategic role in infrastructure investment? Acre is partnering with a leading London-based infra investor to strengthen their ESG team at the associate level.
Our client employs nearly 100 professionals across Europe and the US and is headquarted in London. They have close to £10 billion AUM, and invest in infrastructure projects while being guided by strong impact-based principles.
The Role
As an ESG associate, you work directly with the Head of ESG to drive ESG progression across the investment portfolio. You will also be a key player in communication towards external investors and other internal stakeholders.
We are looking for a highly capable and ambitious candidate with strong analytical and interpersonal skills. You will need to be able to deliver on the technical requirements on the job, while also acting as an excellent communicator and ambassador of the ESG strategy.
Responsibilities
Supporting the Head of ESG & Safety to drive the firm's ESG framework (with reference to the firm's approach to ESG and sustainability) and liaising with:
Counterparts across the firm such as investment teams, asset oversight leads and teams and Investor Relations (IR).
Portfolio company representatives to ensure best practice and implementation of all ESG initiatives.
Project managing the annual ESG data collection process across the portfolio with a strong focus on data validation using ESG reporting software.
Working with the Head of ESG & Safety to analyse data and supporting information, and draft and ensure publication of the Annual ESG Report to investors.
Supporting investment teams with ESG/sustainability due diligence, including but not limited to drafting scope of works for consultants, monitoring and reviewing consultants' work, joining site visits and drafting ESG sections of Investment Committee papers.
Distributing ESG questionnaires to new acquisitions and ensuring that ESG acquisition and exit reports are completed and distributed to LPs in line with their deadline.
Identify, co-ordinate and help deliver the ESG training needs for the wider firm and coaching sessions (e.g. online workshops) for portfolio management teams.
Assisting with investor questionnaires and queries on ESG/sustainability in conjunction with the IR team.
Assisting the Head of ESG & Safety in supporting the IR team during fundraising activities including, for example, contributing to prospectus documentation and responding to investor due diligence processes including interviews.
Leading on at least one specialist area in ESG/sustainability such as climate risk, H&S or social value and stay abreast of technical, regulatory and market developments.
The ideal candidate
We are looking for someone who is passionate about sustainability, ambitious, and looking to further develop their strategic capabilities within the field.
Concretely, we're looking for:
Minimum of two years of experience in sustainability/ESG in a predominantly technical environment. Construction, infrastructure or closely related are preferred.
Familiarity with Sustainability reporting standards and excellent with data analysis and structuring.
Strong interpersonal and presentation skills - representing the company to internal and external stakeholders is an important part of the job.
