Acre has partnered with a growth-stage startup offering a turnkey microgrid service and their own modular off-grid microgrid technology that is currently deployed in remote areas of the US.

The company has industry-leading levels of reliability and is doubling its project capacity year over year. As a result of promotions, they are looking for a Director of Project Engineering to take over a team of five and scale the organization to be multi-departmental, whilst also being the electrical SME of the group.

This remote position (US-based) comes with high levels of autonomy and technical authority over various larger-scale microgrid projects (1-20MWh). You'd lead a cross-functional team of civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical project engineers responsible for the cradle-to-grave design and construction of cutting-edge remote microgrid systems.

You'd be responsible for:

  • Leading the full cradle-to-grave EPC process for microgrid applications from design through construction, serving as the final technical authority/ engineer of record in all external technical engagements

  • Leading and growing a high-performing team

  • Owning all project engineering deliverables and supporting construction bids

  • Working closely with product and application engineering teams to ensure design accuracy and that client expectations are exceeded

  • Signing off on final designs, but capable of using engineering tools like Homer, Xendee, ETAP, AutoCAD, Helioscope, PVSyst, etc., to design systems

You will have:

  • B.S. Electrical Engineering (M.S.E.E.+ preferred) with 7-10+ years of direct experience in a project engineering or electrical design lead position focused on either microgrid or utility-scale energy storage projects (PE License is an asset)

  • 5+ years’ experience directly managing teams of 5+ project engineers and proven experience scaling an organization

  • SME-level understanding of DER technologies like solar PV, generators, batteries, fuel cells, etc.

  • Excellent communication and project management skills garnered from experience completing similar projects (experience with development, design, construction, testing, and commissioning phases is ideal)

  • Experience with energy storage control systems/architecture, and with protection devices

If you are a hands-on technical leader looking for an opportunity to lead and grow a world-class team at a clear winner in the microgrid sector, please apply! If you don't feel like you meet every requirement, we still encourage you to submit your application, as there may be other openings better suited to you.
