Minerals and metals are essential for modern living. Among other things, they enable farming, healthcare, communications, water and energy supply, transport, space technology and the construction of our cities.
Investments in natural resources do not always lead to positive social and economic outcomes for human wellbeing, our planet, or the prosperity of host communities and nations. This does not have to be the case; when mining and metals companies act responsibly, the extraction and management of natural resources can be transformative for the lives of employees, their families, local communities and entire nations.
Bringing together 27 mining and metals company members and over 35 national, regional and commodity association members, ICMM has a truly global reach, and uses this platform to strengthen the social and environmental performance of the mining and metals industry while building recognition of its contribution to local communities and society at large.
About this role:
We are looking for an impactful Communications Officer with experience in the communications space, but with a real passion for sustainability. You will work internally with the communications team, made up of digital, social media, research, written and brand professionals. You will get to experience all of this with communications specialists, assisting in doing research for projects, fact-finding for speeches and contributing to ICMM's communications output.
You will have the opportunity to:
Research for case studies, facts and proof points to be used for speeches, social media, content and reporting
Proactively identify and track communications opportunities for ICMM spokespeople e.g. events, podcasts and media
Coordinate design production and translation of ICMM publications
Produce simple supporting pieces of visual digital content for web and social media, and support on the production of Powerpoint presentations
Produce written content for ICMM's corporate channels, including press releases, social media copy, website copy and the ICMM stakeholder newsletter
Coordinate multi-channel communications for ICMM's external events programme, proactively working with members of the ICMM team and the event organisers to ensure maximum exposure to appropriate audiences
Coordinate the production of ICMM's monthly communications report, identifying insights and analysis
Working within ICMM's matrix structure, you will have the opportunity to actively engage in other aspects of the broader ICMM work programme, applying your unique experience and expertise to strengthen the industry's contribution to the sustainable development agenda.
About you:
You will share the ICMM's passion for sustainability and have experience working in communications. You will be enthusiastic, willing to learn, organised, and a strong team player who has great attention to detail, and who thrives in a busy environment.
Have we piqued your interest?
ICMM's approach is anchored in collaboration, bringing together industry and broader stakeholders such as investors, suppliers, communities, Indigenous Peoples, academia, and civil society to achieve their vision of a safe, just and sustainable world, enabled by responsibly produced minerals and metals.
