Carbon Development Manager

Acre has partnered with a pioneering impact organisation dedicated to alleviating poverty, enhancing public health, improving lives, and protecting the environment. Focused on helping partners to deliver against global Sustainability Development Goals and develop a pipeline of high-quality carbon credits, several growing and successful ventures are now up and running along the Southern coast of Africa.

Programmes include large clean and improved cooking projects and enabling access to safe drinking water, an initiative which involves the restoration and maintenance of wells across over 4000 communities, benefiting over 650,000 people and expected to save over 240,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions per year.

​

The organisation is now seeking a skilled and dedicated Carbon Development Manager to lead and manage carbon initiatives, focusing on the registration of multiple carbon credit programmes in alignment with verification schemes. This role is pivotal in advancing the company's sustainability efforts and generating significant social and environmental impact.

In this role, you will:

• Oversee Carbon Program Certification. You will manage the verification and certification of multiple carbon programs to align with Gold Standard, Verra and any other appropriate and emerging standards, ensuring best practice compliance and successful issuance of credits.

• Develop Carbon Management Strategies. You will lead the development and implementation of carbon management initiatives, collaborating with the programme teams, to ensure project delivery while maximizing emission reduction.

• Engage Stakeholders and Track Market Trends. Through building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders such as registries, auditors, and industry experts, you stay informed on carbon market trends and regulatory changes to optimize projects and prepare accurate reports.

• Build strategic partnerships with investors, NGO's, carbon market platforms and other relevant stakeholders in the wider carbon market. You are always building brand awareness, and driving the development, scaling and awareness of new carbon projects.

• Support business growth. You are comfortable liaising with donors, investors, and commercial partners to maximise commercial opportunities where possible.

To thrive in this role, you'll already have the following:

• Expertise in Carbon Development and Project Management with knowledge of Gold Standard/Verra methodologies, carbon offset standards, and regulations. Proven ability to manage projects, including budgeting and execution.

• Strong Analytical and Financial Skills, you are proficient in financial analysis and modelling, with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to optimize carbon programs and drive successful outcomes.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills,

  with the ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and align with the company's mission, values, and code of ethics.

This role is based in the UK, with flexible and remote working and the opportunity to co-work in Central London for meetings. There will be occasional global travel.
