Acre is delighted to be supporting Climate Asset Management in hiring two Asset Managers to manage a portfolio of nature-based carbon strategy (NBCS) assets.
The roles will work in close collaboration, with one individual leading on ESG-I targets for the portfolio and the other focused on carbon development targets and carbon measurement, reporting, and verification (MRV).
Climate Asset Management, co-owned by HSBC Asset Management and Pollination, invests in natural capital solutions that value, protect, and enhance nature; address climate change; and aim to produce strong returns.
The positions will focus on the execution and oversight of assets, looking to monitor and improve performance and provide technical and operational guidance.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee and manage on-ground project partners, ensuring compliance with contracts, budgets, and milestones.
Support and supervise the activities and performance of the NBCS assets, working closely with the investment team throughout the investment process.
Oversee the performance of NBCS assets, focusing on:
Implementation and monitoring of CAM's carbon development targets
Operational improvements/systems
Implementation and monitoring of CAM's ESG-I targets in the NBCS portfolio (including impact target setting and monitoring; carbon determination and calculation for timber/non-timber forest products; adherence to international sustainability standards; reporting; and advocacy)
Ensuring suitable risk management and mitigation of NBCS assets and fund
Lead due diligence on prospective asset managers and project partners.
Lead major fund-level projects including developing ESGI systems and reporting process and MRV process development and implementation Management of existing carbon development contracts and ancillary agreements.
Handle contract implementation, stakeholder engagement, fund governance, and risk management.
Fulfil positions in asset-level governance bodies, including Steering Committees, Project Oversight Boards and Directorships.
Report on project progress, ESG performance and compliance.
Candidate Requirements:
5-10 years of operational experience in project management, forestry, agriculture, or carbon project development.
Relevant tertiary qualifications and a minimum of 4 years of direct operational management experience in emerging markets.
Strong commercial skills, experience in team leadership, and familiarity with funds management in an institutional context.
Ability to travel globally and a strong aptitude for project management, communication, and problem-solving.
