The pressure on investors to make real progress on sustainability issues has rapidly grown over the last few years. With its partnership-driven ownership model, long-term investment horizon and relative freedom from short-term pressure, private equity is ideally positioned to be at the forefront of the second wave of the sustainable finance revolution.
Our client is building out its sustainability function, and is seeking an experienced individual to join its Head of ESG to build out the organisation's capabilities - from both a value creation and reporting perspective.
Required Skills:
Ability to work under pressure, to deadlines, in a fast-paced, small team environment
Experience with ESG reporting standards: including either TCFD, TNFD or SFDR reports, ESG strategy reporting and/or UN PRI reporting
Deep knowledge of key sustainability-linked regulations and legislation
Highly effective communicator (verbal and written), able to adapt to internal and external stakeholders, often synthesising complex and wide-ranging sustainability concepts into concise, investable insights
Proactive character, keen to learn and collaborate
Strong project management/time management skills
The ability to co-ordinate fund-level initiatives with external parties and consultants
Desirable Experience:
Demonstrable experience applying SME knowledge on one or more sustainability themes to company business models in order to drive growth
Experience in sustainability/ESG, gained in either the ESG consulting sector or an in-house ESG position within private markets or asset management
Demonstrable experience and passion for supporting ambitious corporate climate action, either through past work experience or personal projects
Ability to undertake independent research on emerging topics, market developments, industry guidance and regulatory developments, and concisely summarise key points and how they may impact the firm, fund or portfolio
If you are motivated to see the world improve as a result of the investments made today, are passionate about the opportunity to support the growth of companies that are central to the transition to a more sustainable economy and want to be a part of the solution to many of our environmental and social issues, please get in touch with Hector Lobb at hector.lobb@acre.com.
