Job Summary

The Officer, Investment Services role is a critical part of the Investment Services team at ImpactAssets, which supports investment execution and post-investment management and monitoring for private debt and equity investments that are recommended by the firm's donors/clients. The Investment Services team engages with mission-driven entrepreneurs and fund managers, assesses them for investment eligibility, reviews and executes subscription/investment agreements, manages capital calls and corporate actions, and monitors investment activity, impact and investment reporting and valuations. This role requires an analytical, organized, flexible and energetic self-starter energized by the key responsibilities of the Investment Services team, including managing/monitoring a rapidly growing portfolio of hundreds of impact investments across the globe, overseeing investment transactions and actions, working with the Director to ensure team resiliency through training, professional development/coaching, and designing/driving/owning internal and cross-functional projects to help the team and company evolve to continuously deliver an exceptional internal/external client experience.

Additional requirements: Travel to in-person team meetings 2 - 3 times per year

Salary range: $130 - $145 K base + annual bonus and competitive benefits

Key Responsibilities

Investment Servicing:

  • Lead swift response to complex investment notifications and corporate actions, delegating and escalating where appropriate.

  • Responsible for investment transaction approval for Client Recommended Investments

  • Oversee monitoring of investment performance through investee reporting, news, third-party databases and calls

Portfolio Monitoring/Oversight/Analysis:

  • Oversee monitoring of Client Recommended Investment portfolio, while delegating to and training others, where appropriate

  • Maintain Client Recommended Investments data integrity in ImpactAssets' Investment Management System (Addepar)

  • Work with Addepar Implementation lead to improve Addepar functionally to boost team efficiency and reduce reliance on legacy systems and spreadsheets

Client Experience and Operational Excellence:

  • Identify and implement new process improvement opportunities to maintain a world-class, efficient operation

  • Manage Freshdesk ticket management for Investment Actions, Reporting and Portfolio Health Monitoring

  • Document key processes and making them more efficient, highly motivated and organized

  • Design/drive and lead accountability for select projects and process improvement opportunities to maintain a world-class, efficient, client- (internal and external) focused operation.

  • Support cross-functional initiatives to improve the experience for highly engaged impact-investing clients

  • Thought leadership, including sharing critical knowledge and expertise throughout IA

  • Optimize workflows and increase connectivity between various departments using technology and cross-functional relationships.

  • Visualize data, identify trends, and distil details into an insightful high-level view.

Supervisory Duties:

  • Oversee transaction, valuation and corporate action processes delegated to an Associate and/or Senior Associate

  • Coach other team members to take on greater responsibility, including helping them to develop their professional development and upskilling plans

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, business, economics, or related field; advanced degree a plus

  • Minimum of 8 years of professional experience within the financial services or investment management industry focused on investment management operations for private debt (loan construction and servicing), equity and fund investments; OR equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in mandatory and voluntary corporate actions and full private investment servicing lifecycle, including an understanding of the impact of corporate events on various financial instruments and asset classes, risks, and related process controls and escalation frameworks

  • Minimum of 2 years transaction experience including entering/approving simple to complex investment transactions related to booking new investments, corporate actions, received payments, work-outs and write-downs/-offs.

  • Experience working in a virtual working environment preferred

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

  • Strong investment acumen and successful track record of managing investments.

  • Ability to collect, organize and analyze significant amounts of data with attention to detail

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to quickly build rapport with other teams, customers, and prospective and existing investees.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Knowledge and passion for using investing as a means by which to engender social or environmental impact

  • Ability to work independently and prioritize competing demands; leading multiple streams of work simultaneously

  • Risk management mindset

  • Confidence working with ADDEPAR, a platform for data aggregation, analytics, and portfolio reporting, is a plus

  • Quantitative (statistical, Excel modelling) and qualitative analytical skills, critical thinking
