Acre is proud to partner with a leading global bank to hire the Head of Sustainability, Americas Division, to support the firm's broader Environmental, Social, and Governance ("ESG") initiatives.

Reporting to the CEO Office, this role will lead the bank's Americas Division Sustainability team, whose mandate is to advance sustainability objectives across the firm and its affiliated companies in the Americas in partnership with business, risk, finance, compliance, legal, and policy teams. Areas of focus include ensuring regulatory compliance, ESG monitoring and reporting/disclosures, overseeing the firm's portfolio of sustainability projects, coordinating with the head office to implement the Corporate Sustainability Framework in compliance with applicable legal requirements, and working with key internal and external partners to promote sustainable business practices, employee engagement, communications, and public relations opportunities.

Key responsibilities:

  • Enhance and execute the firm's Americas Division sustainability strategy, including implementing the Americas Division ESG Target Operating Model.

  • Monitor sustainability policy-setting and risk management practices in the U.S. financial services industry.

  • Build and enhance the firm's ESG data collection and analysis capability. In conjunction with the firm's business, risk, and finance teams, manage voluntary and mandatory sustainability data disclosure and reporting.

  • Work with the firm's Americas Division senior management, business heads, and other stakeholders to design and implement regional sustainability initiatives and related governance frameworks in compliance with applicable laws and regulatory guidance.

  • Provide progress on sustainability initiatives and insight/guidance on sustainability risks to senior management/boards.

  • Collaborate with the firm's head office Corporate Sustainability Department to ensure Americas Division sustainability and ESG initiatives are aligned with the global policies and targets while complying with applicable local laws.

  • Participate in external meetings to represent the firm's Americas Division's sustainability, climate change and ESG approach.

  • Collaborate with Corporate Marketing & Communications to generate internal and external press highlighting sustainability efforts.

  • Manage team budget.

Qualifications:

  • 10-15 years of experience with strong knowledge and skills within sustainability, ESG, especially in developing and implementing sustainability strategy either with a financial institution or major multinational corporation.

  • Strong understanding of sustainability and climate change issues and legal, regulatory, andreputational risks as they impact business and the financial sector.

  • Strong knowledge of and experience in the banking and financial sector.

  • High level of leadership skills to execute large-scale programs, educate senior stakeholders across the organization, and be a champion of representing the ESG efforts across the organization internally and externally.

  • Collaborative mindset and ability to work with a wide range of internal partners from across the bank.

  • Excellent communication skills and cross-cultural sensitivity.
