Acre is recruiting for an Integrated Catchment Manager for the Northumbrian Water Group (NWG). The role is part of NWG's initiative to facilitate cohesive, effective internal collaboration to improve water sustainability, aligned with external activities. As this is a newly created role, you will have great scope to shape the role. The role will focus on Essex & Suffolk Water, the Group company that supplies water to a population of 1.8 million in the South East of England.
Reporting to the Group Head of Environment and Sustainability, your focus will be to create and implement integrated catchment plans for Essex & Suffolk Water. You will partner closely with both internal and external stakeholders to facilitate the successful implementation of the plan.
As the Integrated Catchment Manager, you will:
Lead the development of integrated catchment plans, which reflect NWG's internal priorities and external expectations.
Engage and influence external stakeholders and partners to help deliver the integrated catchment plan.
Ensure that relevant requests, communications and consultations are responded to in a timely manner and that information conveyed by NWG is robust and communicated in a manner which maintains trust and confidence.
Develop and promote your position as an expert in this area in both internal and external networks. Actively participate in external networks and in internal dissemination.
Line manage up to 5 people and a wider team of 20 people. You should ensure that direct reports are well-engaged, and
supported, and deliver sound business results.
You will be able to utilise the following skills in this role:
Technical catchment expertise and understanding of the water environment.
Expertise and knowledge of water catchment, understanding of how catchment activities affect water quality and quantity.
The role involves line management responsibilities so you should demonstrate strong leadership and team-building skills in a complex, dynamic environment.
Ability to influence stakeholders, particularly through writing clear proposals, reports, strategies and policies.
Ability to build and manage a strong network of collaborative relationships and partnerships, typical external stakeholders would include conservation NGOs, community interest groups, farming and agriculture interest groups, and customers.
Passionate about the environment and sustainability with a tendency for holistic and Systems thinking.
The role will be suited to someone who is based within commuting distance to Essex & Suffolk Water's office in the Chelmsford area. Hybrid working is on offer, and there will also be occasional travel to NWG's office in Durham.
