Acre is thrilled to partner with General Cocoa, one of the largest cocoa traders in North America, in search of a Sustainability Analyst to help build a robust program framework for a sustainable cocoa supply that meets the requirements of its clients and other stakeholders.

To achieve this, they are looking for a highly analytical and detail-oriented Sustainability Analyst. The Sustainability Analyst will support Sucden's sustainability programs across Latin America and West Africa, ensuring client milestones are achieved and delivering impactful results for farming communities. This position is based in New York City.

Responsibilities and Tasks:

  • Management of General Cocoa's Rainforest Alliance Certified Position

    • Maintain and update contract positions with new volumes and agreements.

    • Monitor Rainforest Alliance account activity and oversee the Rainforest credit portal.

    • Lead the annual renewal of the Rainforest Alliance license and ensure readiness for supply chain certification audits.

  • Management of Sustainable Cocoa Volume Position and Activity Tracking

    • Allocate third-party verified volumes to cocoa bean sales

    • Ensure accurate and timely tracking of shipment execution and volume allocation.

    • Monitor and manage traceability data of processing

    • Convert bean volume to butter and adjust associated premiums as required.

    • Update contracts in the management system with the appropriate premiums and program commodity codes.

  • Data Reconciliation and Reporting

    • Conduct detailed assessments of program data and financial records, ensuring accuracy and alignment with sustainability targets.

    • Generate well-structured, comprehensive reports for clients and stakeholders, prioritizing precision and analytical rigor.

    • Support budget reconciliation efforts and respond to audit requests, ensuring compliance and financial transparency.

  • Sustainability-Related Financial Controls

    • Manage financial processes related to Know Your Customer (KYC) for onboarding new partners.

    • Track and follow up on invoice payments, ensuring timely and accurate financial reconciliation.

    • Coordinate with clients on volume and premium allocations for both certified and verified contracts.

  • Support Proposal Drafting and Grant Applications

    • Assist in the development of proposals for sustainability programs, including drafting impact-driven content and exploring potential grant opportunities for match funding to support program expansion.

Desired Education, Qualifications, and Experience:

  • A Bachelor's degree or higher in sustainability, environmental science, agricultural economics, or a related field.

  • 1-2 years of analytical experience, ideally within the consulting or sustainability sector.

  • Knowledge of sustainability topics such as voluntary standards, human rights, greenhouse gas emissions, and regenerative agriculture.

  • Strong writing and analytical skills, with the ability to communicate complex ideas clearly.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, with experience in data analysis.

Reporting:

  • Reports directly to GENCO's management team and Sustainability Project Manager in New York

  • Collaborates closely with Sucden's Cocoa Sustainability team and Regional Sustainability Managers based in Ecuador and Ghana.
