Plantworks (working title) is a new initiative designed to build a global action movement that will in turn accelerate the transition to a world with a more nutritious, sustainable, plant-rich food system. Their mission is to put the world on track for a more secure, healthy, and sustainable food system that is nature and climate-positive, through a radical shift to more plant-rich diets.
Targeting USD 500 million and backed initially by a significant investment, the organization will facilitate the movement, and regrant funds to partners.
You will be joining the organisation at an early stage of its inception - a fantastic opportunity to support the creation and initial strategies that will be rolled out across their six target regions of the world, working with local partners to impact projects directly, and funding strategic research projects to support the communication with key stakeholders globally.
As the Director of National Programmes, you will lead efforts in advancing plant-rich diets and sustainable agriculture across multiple countries. The Director will oversee and guide Plantworks Country Leads in developing impactful theory of change models, strategic program development, and effective grantmaking strategies across the six key locations that Plantworks are focusing on.
In this role, you will:
Provide leadership and hands-on, practical management to Country Leads and program teams to develop innovative strategies for their individual geographies (Europe, UK, Brazil, South Africa, USA, SE Asia).
Support Country Leads with strategy development, including clear change theories illustrating pathways to impact.
Build the capacity of program teams through training, workshops, and knowledge sharing to enhance impact and effectiveness.
Oversee the grantmaking process, ensuring effective allocation of resources to programs that demonstrate potential for impact and scalability.
Work with Country Leads to meet with new and existing grantees and support them in grantmaking process.
Establish MEL frameworks and systems to track program impact, evaluate effectiveness, and inform adaptive management.

Location and Travel:
This position is a remote role and can be located anywhere within a 2 hour time difference of the UK. The role will have frequent travel to support country programs and attend relevant meetings and conferences.
PlantWorks' mission is to reduce meat consumption by shaping the choice context for consumers.
They will do this by shifting policy, establishing private sector champions, supporting farmers, and building a wider civil society movement that collectively makes it easier for consumers to choose healthy and sustainable food.
