Acre is proud to be supporting The Marine Stewardship Council (MSC), an international non-profit promoting sustainable fishing to protect oceans.
They certify fisheries that meet strict standards and allow them to use the blue MSC ecolabel. This label helps consumers choose sustainable seafood, driving market transformation and supporting marine ecosystems and communities. We are looking for a Country Manager to lead and deliver a varied and exciting program of work in the Netherlands that contributes to MSC's mission to end global overfishing. You will work with key partners in the Dutch seafood sector, including commercial and fisheries, NGOs and government, as well as marketing and communications professionals.
The MSC's vision is for the world's oceans to be teeming with life, and seafood supplies safeguarded for this and future generations. Through their internationally recognised certification and eco-labelling program, well-managed sustainable fisheries are recognised and rewarded in the marketplace, through the leadership of their partners. Over 670 fisheries around the world, representing 19% of the annual global marine catch, are now engaged in the MSC program and MSC-certified and labelled seafood products are now available in over 66 countries.
You will be responsible for:
Representing the MSC at high-level meetings and events across multiple sectors, such as retail, processing, fishing, and academic institutions, engaging with key stakeholders to advance seafood sustainability.
Leading the development and implementation of the strategic country plan for the Netherlands, collaborating with the Dutch team to set and achieve key priorities and deliver on critical projects.
Collaborating with MSC colleagues to ensure alignment and effective execution of the strategic country plan for the Netherlands being a senior team member of the DACH & BLX region.
While focusing on their mission to end overfishing, this role connects with many areas across the MSC. This is a fast-paced and dynamic position, with a varied work week - from operationally managing the team and a variety of multiple programs, projects, engaging with key commercial partners and retailers, speaking at events, to visiting leading supermarket chains to pitch joint business opportunities.
You will already:
Be an experienced and confident manager who can inspire, engage, and drive development in the team as well as being an enthusiastic spokesperson for the MSC Netherlands program, showcasing leadership in sustainable seafood topics.
Demonstrated skills in managing a variety of programs, projects, and teams effectively.
Knowledge and experience in the sustainable food/seafood sector, with a deep understanding of stakeholder issues and sensitivities, as well as being fluent in Dutch and English.
