Acre is partnering up with Thai Union, a leading global seafood company to look for their new Social Impact Director.

As the Social Impact Director, you will be at the forefront of executing Thai Union's social and labour strategy. This role demands a practical leader who can develop and implement comprehensive strategies to address various systemic challenges facing the seafood industry. Your expertise in creating, cascading and monitoring best practices across global supply chains will ensure they protect and safeguard workers across the globe.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategy Development: Craft and refine a global roadmap that aligns with Thai Union's goals of protecting and safeguarding workers across the seafood supply chain

  • Policy Development: Own the creation and ongoing refinement of the Thai Union Code of Conduct, including the Vessel Code of Conduct and other related policies. Develop additional policies as necessary, such as those pertaining to shrimp sourcing, to align with their commitment to ethical labour practices.

  • Auditing and Compliance: Oversee Thai Union's supplier auditing framework, enhancing its effectiveness and reach. Support the management of third-party consultants to ensure rigorous compliance, reporting and monitoring.

  • Supplier Engagement: Drive supplier improvement programs that encourage suppliers to meet the evolving requirements of Thai Union. Ensure that these programs are effectively implemented and results-oriented.

  • Responsible Recruitment: Establishing policies and programs that ensure responsible recruitment throughout the supply chain.

  • Worker Protection: Implement and advocate for worker voice and other empowerment mechanisms to secure protections for workers throughout the supply chain.

  • Internal Collaboration: Work closely with procurement and supply chain management teams to integrate social impact goals into broader company objectives. Foster a collaborative environment that promotes innovative solutions to supply chain challenges and builds upon the work done to date.

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Maintain active and productive relationships with NGOs, CSOs, and other relevant organizations to ensure that policies reflect industry standards and are implemented effectively.

This position will have indirect reports from across multiple teams (Fish Procurement, Factory Supply Chain Management Teams, Thai Union Feedmill, andShrimp Procurement). The Social Impact Director will be responsible for creating the group roadmap, identifying any new potential resources and the effective organizational structure needed for implementation.

Key Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a field related to social sciences/ sustainability, as a minimum.

  • Masters agree in a related field are preferred.

  • Proven experience in the Agri-food or Seafood sector, with a strong emphasis on social impact management.

  • Strong ability to manage complex projects and multi-stakeholder initiatives.

  • Expert on all social and labour issues facing global supply chains, experience in the seafood sector or similar would be a strong advantage.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement social compliance programs, effective strategies and action plans which positive impact and outcomes.

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and inspire a team.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.

  • Based in Bangkok is highly desired, with significant travel to key sourcing countries.
