Decarbonisation Manager

Acre is working exclusively with a leading global logistics company managing two key locations in the UK. These sites play a pivotal role in container handling and logistics, and the company is committed to reducing its carbon footprint while expanding operations. They are committed to achieving net zero through various initiatives, including equipment electrification to reduce diesel and marine fuel consumption, enhancing process efficiency through digitalisation, and developing renewable energy supplies from carbon-neutral sources.

As the Decarbonisation Manager, you will play a critical role in developing and executing renewable energy and electrification strategies. Your focus will be on reducing carbon emissions and supporting the transition to sustainable energy solutions at the ports. This role requires regular onsite presence at these Southern England port locations to oversee project delivery and ensure alignment with the company's sustainability goals.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement renewable energy projects, such as solar PV installations, battery storage, and wind turbines, to help reduce emissions at key UK port facilities.

• Lead the electrification strategy for plant and machinery, including the installation of electric charging infrastructure and exploring alternative fuel options.

• Manage pilot projects for installing shore power supply for deep-sea vessels.

• Conduct financial feasibility studies and technology evaluations for renewable projects, ensuring they are commercially viable and aligned with regulatory requirements.

• Oversee project delivery, from engineering and design to securing Power Purchase Agreements and external financing.

• Collaborate with the sustainability team to align carbon reduction objectives with global and regional goals.

You bring:

• Extensive experience leading decarbonisation initiatives in industrial or heavy industry sectors.

• Strong knowledge of renewable energy solutions and GHG reduction strategies.

• Demonstrated project management skills with the ability to oversee complex projects and meet deadlines.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with internal teams and external partners.

• You have a deep passion for sustainability and a commitment to reducing carbon emissions.
