About the Opportunity
Acre is partnering with a leading global mining and natural resources company to identify an experienced Senior Sustainability Risk & Engagement Manager. This role offers a unique opportunity to drive sustainability strategies, stakeholder engagement, and responsible project development in a dynamic and global organization.
As a key member of the sustainability and project development teams, you will be responsible for identifying and mitigating sustainability-related risks, integrating best practices into project planning, and ensuring compliance with international sustainability frameworks. This is a hybrid role based in Arizona, with opportunities for global collaboration and travel.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and manage Project Development Sustainability Risk (PDSR) assessment processes for the assigned region, collaborating with subject matter experts to develop and implement solutions.
Lead Free, Prior, and Informed Consent (FPIC) processes, working with Indigenous communities and internal teams to ensure sustainable, ethical project development.
Act as the liaison between project teams, site teams, and corporate sustainability experts to align engagement timelines with project milestones.
Integrate sustainability considerations into project scope, budgets, and priorities, ensuring compliance with international frameworks (ICMM, IFC, Copper Mark).
Maintain expertise in sustainability regulations, human rights policies, and environmental best practices, with a focus on cultural heritage and risk mitigation.
Support data management and reporting by utilizing
sustainability management software to document risks, actions, and engagement processes.
Provide strategic leadership on sustainability issues and promote institutional adoption of best practices across the organization.
Travel up to 30-40% as required.
Key Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Sustainability, Environmental Studies, Human Rights, International Development, Business, or a related field, plus 10+ years of experience in sustainability, social performance, human rights, or environmental management.
OR Master's degree in a relevant field plus 8+ years of experience.
Proven experience identifying and managing sustainability-related risks in mining, extractives, or large-scale infrastructure projects.
Strong ability to engage and build relationships with internal stakeholders, government entities, and Indigenous communities.
Excellent project management, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills.
Highly adaptable, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Second language proficiency (Spanish or Bahasa) preferred.
