Minerals and metals are essential for modern living. Among other things, they enable farming, healthcare, communications, water and energy supply, transport, space technology and the construction of our cities.
Investments in natural resources do not always lead to positive social and economic outcomes for human wellbeing, our planet, or the prosperity of host communities and nations. This does not have to be the case; when mining and metals companies act responsibly, the extraction and management of natural resources can be transformative for the lives of employees, their families, local communities and entire nations.
Bringing together 27 mining and metals company members and over 35 national, regional and commodity association members, ICMM has a truly global reach, and uses this platform to strengthen the social and environmental performance of the mining and metals industry while building recognition of its contribution to local communities and society at large.
About this role:
We are looking for an entrepreneurial and collaborative innovation specialist that is passionate about sustainability to join the team at a critical time for the organisation as ICMM embarks on a new three-year strategy. You will be an integral member of the team, with the opportunity to work across the key areas of ICMM'S health and safety, innovation and social progress agenda:
Occupational health and safety, enabling a step-change towards eliminating fatalities, serious injuries and diseases
The Innovation for Cleaner, Safety Vehicle Initiative on zero-emissions solutions for surface mining transportation, on minimising diesel particle matter (DPM) in underground operations and promoting collision avoidance solutions
The Skills for Our Common Future Initiative and community resilience space
Advancing progress and accelerating the implementation of tailings reduction and tailings management initiatives across the industry
About you:
As the Innovation Specialist, you will work across several teams at ICMM, as well as engage with technology suppliers, international organisations and other external stakeholders. This, in turn, empowers you to have a truly global impact within the mining industry.
You will share ICMM's passion for sustainability and enjoy working collaboratively to ensure that the goal of improving the environmental and social performance of the mining industry is achieved. You will also have a good working knowledge of one of the following areas: innovation, occupational health and safety, or mineral processing and tailings management.
You will also have project management skills and a desire to learn and gain experience working with corporate businesses across the areas of innovation, social development, and sustainability.
Have we piqued your interest?
ICMM's approach is anchored in collaboration, bringing together industry and broader stakeholders such as investors, suppliers, communities, Indigenous Peoples, academia, and civil society to achieve their vision of a safe, just and sustainable world, enabled by responsibly produced minerals and metals.
Apply below before Friday 11th March if you're motivated by the thought of helping ICMM continue to drive real, meaningful change in the metals and mining industry. If you have any questions, please contact Greg Walker at greg.walker@acre.com.
This role, and all roles at ICMM, are open to candidates from any and all geographic regions.
