The U.S. Cotton Trust Protocol (USCTP) is a unique program for sustainably grown cotton, aligned with the U.S. National Cotton goals and developed under industry frameworks. The Protocol brings quantifiable goals and measurement in six key areas, namely: land use, soil carbon, water management, soil loss, greenhouse gas emissions and energy efficiency. Using sophisticated data collection and independent third-party verification, the protocol will give brands and retailers the assurance they and their customers need that they are sourcing responsibly.

As the Trust Protocol Supply Chain Director (Consultant), you will be responsible for leading the stewardship of the organizational strategy and infrastructure for cotton from field level to the end use of cotton across the global supply chain. The position is remotely based in the U.S. and will report directly to the Executive Director and will oversee the US Cotton Trust Protocol's Supply Chain Team.

The Supply Chain Director will drive growth by building partnerships and programmatic functionality to increase brands and retailers' use of CTP's platform, tools, and data. Your efforts will enhance CTP's global supply chain reach through partnerships that improve the volume, quality, value, and diversity of CTP's sustainability data. You will also support the Executive Director in making the Trust Protocol the definitive sustainability insights platform in the cotton industry.

The Supply Chain Director will manage key Trust Protocol partnerships, driving new partnership initiatives from strategy to operationalization, and leveraging internal resources for effective partnership modelling and analysis. You will also work closely with the Traceability Projects Lead and Project Coordinator; mentoring team members and playing a key leadership role as CTP scales.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Lead the development and implementation of strategies to optimize the cotton supply chain from field to end use and ensure seamless operations.

  • Oversee and guide the Supply Chain Team to ensure alignment with organizational goals.

  • Collaborate with the Executive Director to develop and execute strategic plans.

  • Manage and enhance the tools utilized by key stakeholders in the global supply chain, collaborating with the Cotton Council International regional teams.

  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and innovation within the supply chain.

  • Monitor and analyze supply chain performance metrics to drive efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Provide leadership and mentorship to team members, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment.

The ideal candidate will be a highly organized, flexible and committed team player. You'll have a sustainability background with excellent technical expertise - ideally in the context of agricultural supply chains - and you'll be adept in managing large programs for addressing a system-wide assurance model.

In addition, you will have:

  • Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 5 years' experience in a related field. A master's degree is a plus.

  • Proven experience in supply chain management, preferably within the cotton or textile industry.

  • Exceptional communication skills and project management experience.

  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent leadership and team management abilities.

  • Ability to work independently and remotely while maintaining effective communication with the team and Executive Director.

  • In-depth understanding of global supply chain dynamics and best practices.

  • Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to work with diverse stakeholders.
