Nirapon, an industry-led non-profit organization founded in 2018, is seeking a CEO to lead its growth, strategic direction, and operations in the world's second-largest exporter of apparel, Bangladesh. Nirapon collaborates with global brands, retailers, manufacturers, and NGOs to create and sustain a culture of workplace safety in Bangladesh factories.
About Nirapon
Nirapon's mission is to ensure safer workplaces and enhance worker rights in Bangladesh. With over 60 member companies, including prominent retailers like Walmart, Target, GAP, and VF, Nirapon reaches hundreds of factories. The organization focuses on education and the provision of resources and tools, using a pioneering approach to embed safety into everyday operations. By influencing brand representatives, factory owners, managers, and workers, Nirapon aims to make safety a fundamental aspect of the manufacturing process.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership:
Develop and execute Nirapon's strategic plan in line with the organisation's vision.
Manage the annual planning process to achieve desired impacts, ensuring timely adjustments to meet goals.
Engage proactively with key stakeholders, including industry associations, governments, corporations, NGOs, and more.
Advocate for factory safety and worker rights at both national and international forums.
Foster strong relationships with member companies and other key stakeholders to advance Nirapon's mission.
Development of Program Partner Relationships:
Deliver an integrated safety management system with three implementing partners in Bangladesh: LRQA, BRAC and Amader Kotha.
Collaborate on the design of programmes to strengthen awareness of safety protocols and practices and incorporate feedback.
Strategize on educational programming with partners to enhance scale, effectiveness, and impact.
Operational Excellence:
Oversee daily operations, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness in safety program delivery.
Ensure the right team and resources are in place to implement Nirapon's strategic mission.
Develop data-driven insights to inform and enhance the program.
Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation, inspiring employees through leadership.
Financial Management:
Manage financial planning, budgeting, and reporting.
Ensure effective financial control and cash flow management.
Monitor financial performance, providing transparent communication to the board.
Implement efficient processes to meet the needs of internal teams and stakeholders.
Team Leadership and Development:
Attract, develop, and retain a high-performing leadership team.
Mentor staff, promoting a culture of excellence and accountability.
Ensure a positive and inclusive work environment with effective communication.
Compliance and Governance:
Ensure full legal compliance in all operations.
Work closely with the Board of Directors on governance and risk management.
Implement best practices for employee well-being and safety, maintaining program integrity.
Key Requirements
Minimum of 10 years of leadership experience.
Strong understanding of risk management
Knowledge of worker rights, the manufacturing landscape in Bangladesh, and global supply chains.
Proven track record in strategic planning and managing complex stakeholder relationships.
Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse team.
Strong financial acumen, including experience in budgeting and financial planning.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to advocate for safety and worker rights.
