Job Description

As a Sustainability Consultant, you will assist some of the UK's largest water users in becoming more environmentally and socially responsible. You will conduct research, complete disclosures, and develop strategic reports that will enable our clients to achieve water resilience at both site and corporate levels, positively contributing to achieving water security in the UK and beyond.

You will be experienced in taking a hands-on approach and be able to work independently. A proven wealth of knowledge within an environmental field is essential, and a background in climate reporting is desirable. You will play a key role in helping to shape the sustainability services and their ambitious business growth in this area, especially on a global scale. Key Responsibilities

Assist in Building the Sustainability Framework

  • Assist in the development of new service elements related to sustainability services.

  • Keep up to date with relevant legislative, environmental, and policy developments to guide and strengthen existing sustainability services.

  • Continually evaluate sustainability services to identify and recommend improvements.

Support with Delivery of Sustainability Reporting

  • Work closely with clients to assist with measurement and improvements to their sustainability performance.

  • Conduct company assessments on water and environmental impacts, creating an overall strategy for sustainability plans.

  • Independently manage the cross-team delivery of sustainability reporting, where required.

  • Request data from other teams and draw conclusions from the data presented.

  • Ensure that sustainability reports and strategic consultancy work are accurate, compelling, impactful, and actionable.

Manage the CDP Water Security Disclosure Workstreams & Relationship

  • Coordinate the delivery of water security questionnaires across the team.

  • Keep up to date with changes to the disclosure and scoring methodology.

  • Ensure that service offerings are integrated with CDP, as well as other disclosure frameworks.

Project Management & Business Development

  • Manage and/or deliver sustainability projects from handover from BDM to project completion and invoicing.

  • Ensure that opportunities following any initial projects are identified and developed for conversion.

  • Build strong client relationships.

Qualitative Data Reviews

  • Review specific water-related publications from stakeholders like Wholesalers, the Environment Agency, DEFRA, and Ofwat.

  • Identify and keep up to date with developments in other key publications that may not have been previously considered.

  • Develop services in a global space.

Communicate Effectively with Stakeholders

  • Establish and maintain a dialogue with external stakeholders on environmental issues to support client strategies.

Work with the BDM & Communications Team

  • Attend relevant industry events.

  • Assist the BDM in prospect meetings.

  • Ensure that the Communications Team have up to date and relevant information relating to changes in the sector.

Person Specification

Qualifications & Training

  • A relevant degree in an Environmental subject AND

  • Proven experience working in a similar role (at least 2-3 years)

Knowledge & Experience

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Experience of building strong client relationships

  • Experience with writing technical reports

  • Good level of commercial awareness

Abilities

  • Excellent organisational and time management skills

  • Accurate and with excellent attention to detail

  • Impactful report-writing

  • Ability to draw conclusions from data
