Acre is currently supporting a multinational consumer goods organisation toidentify an interim climate consultant to work within their sustainability team.

In this assignment, you will play a vital role in supporting our client's commitment to reaching Net Zero by 2040. Your remit will include the measurement, verification, reporting, and analysis of carbon emissions, and supporting data-related needs such as:

  • Implementation, management, maintenance and continuous improvement of carbon data management and systems

  • Tracking progress towards targets (at global, country and business group levels)

  • Internal and External GHG reporting, across all Net Zero emissions categories

  • Compliance with climate-related regulations

  • Development and implementation of carbon reduction strategies

  • Identifying and developing actionable data-related insights

Further role description:

  • Conduct comprehensive carbon accounting and emissions assessments for operations and value chain

  • Utilize relevant tools, methodologies, and databases to ensure accurate and reliable data collection, analysis, and reporting

  • Collect, organize, and manage climate-related data from various internal and external sources. Develop, maintain and continuously improve robust databases and systems to facilitate accurate data tracking, analysis, and reporting

  • Assist in the preparation of climate-related reports, disclosures, and communications for internal and external stakeholders

  • Maintain a thorough understanding of relevant carbon accounting standards, such as the GHG Protocol, SBTi standards, and other industry-specific guidelines. Ensure adherence to these standards and assist in the continuous improvement of GHG emissions reporting practices

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and evaluate climate-related risks and opportunities, including physical risks, regulatory changes, market trends, and consumer preferences. Provide insights and recommendations to inform business decision-making and risk management strategies

Requirements:

  • Excellent understanding of carbon accounting principles, methodologies, and tools

  • Proficiency in data analysis, including quantitative analysis, statistical modelling, and data visualization

  • Familiarity with sustainability reporting standards and frameworks and regulatory frameworks (e.g., GRI, SASB, TCFD, CSRD, CDP)

  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and other data analysis tools

  • Experience with greenhouse gas inventory management and reporting software is a plus

  • 5-6 years of relevant work experience in climate analysis, sustainability reporting, or related fields

  • Experience with carbon accounting, emissions inventory management, or greenhouse gas reporting

  • Knowledge of relevant standards and methodologies, such as the GHG Protocol and SBTi standards
