Acre has partnered with a leading, dynamic agriculture business that is committed to creating impact and driving change across their business operations. Having grown significantly and delivered major ESG projects, initiatives and progress, Acre is now supporting them with the appointment of a new Group ESG Director.

In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the ESG strategy, furthering them towards a 2040 net-zero target, and further embedding sustainability throughout the business and supply base. This is an exciting and varied opportunity to be part of a committed leadership team, working across a complex, international supply chain, and making a genuine impact.

What will you be doing in this role?

  • Further defining ESG strategic themes, objectives, targets, and measures. Areas of focus include:

    • Climate change and decarbonisation

    • Resource efficiency, biodiversity, and ecosystem protection

    • Social equity

    • DEI

    • Corporate governance

    • Ethical leadership

    • Supply chain management

  • Representing the organisation on ESG and sustainability, developing an external engagement strategy with NGOs, trade associations, and stakeholders and influencing internally at senior levels

  • Leading a dynamic, experienced, and passionate team who are committed to the strategy, and providing expertise across topics such as decarbonisation, human rights, and sustainability data.

This is a rare opportunity to define and deliver an ESG strategy in a market-leading business with plans to create significant impact internationally. We are looking for a motivated and assured leader with experience in working in a high-performance environment, with operational teams, to deliver excellent results.

To thrive in this role, you will be already comfortable partnering with a range of internal teams, such as finance, ESG, supply chain, and commercial, but also with the extra layer of external commitments to several key stakeholders and customers.

Who are you, and what do you bring?

  • Experience of working across international ESG topics, especially decarbonisation and road mapping, and leading change with energy and enthusiasm in a fast-paced environment. You enjoy getting stuck into areas of ambiguity and seeking solutions, collaborating with teams, and striving for impact.

  • Strategic thinker with the ability to engage and influence at a senior level both internally and externally. You are comfortable in front of a range of audiences, and winning hearts and minds when it comes to all things ESG.

  • Experience of influencing and managing demanding stakeholders (internal and external), and you make ESG and Sustainability relevant to as many as possible. Combined with this, several stakeholders and colleagues are international, so you can adapt your style and approach regularly, depending on requirements.

  • Demonstrable credibility in sustainable business transformation. You bring new ideas with you and a fresh vision for an exciting and progressive team and organisation.
