General Counsel

Cascale, formerly the Sustainable Apparel Coalition, is a global membership organisation representing 300 leading organisations across the consumer goods industry. They support industry transformation across key sustainability topics, empowering businesses to create a positive environmental and social impact.

Acre is partnering with Cascale to find a General Counsel at this pivotal time as the organisation grows and the focus on sustainability across value chains increases. A keymember of the executive team and working with internal legal professionals and external counsel, this global role covers international trademarks and contracts, IP, M&A as wellas the international regulatory environment.

You have the opportunity to:

• Lead all legal work with internal support and external counsel on corporate, contract, compliance, tax, intellectual property, international non-profit governance, mergers and acquisitions, and employment law issues

• With legal support/external counsel draft, review, revise, and negotiate a variety of contracts, including agreements relating to ownership of intellectual property (trademarks and licenses), grants and funding from government entities and other third parties, services agreements with vendors and consultants, stakeholder collaboration agreements, and event agreements, collaborating with outside counsel as necessary

• Manage strategies to evaluate and reduce organizational risk (legal, regulatory, and supervisory), including those related to Cascale's international corporate structure

• Develop and/or update internal policies, such as anti-trust, privacy, and conflict of interest ensuring compliance with applicable international regulations

• Advise the Board of Directors and CEO on governance and board matters for the organization

• Participate in and advise the Board Governance and Nominations Committee

• Advise the Executive Team on operational matters related to individual functions (Membership, Product Tools, Communications, Operations) as well as on key external partnerships and agreements Teamleadership

• Provide inspirational leadership to their team; coach and empower team members to deliver successful projects

You will have:

• 8-10 years PQE (qualified in UK/EU) as in-house counsel (preferred) or in a law firm or non-profit with experience in commercial contracts and intellectual property

• Experience gained in the fashion/apparel or consumer goods industry

• 10+ years working at a VP level or above, some of which at a GC level

• Proven experience of autonomously managing varied programs of work using multidisciplinary teams

• Excellent analytical, research, drafting and negotiation skills
