The Copper Mark is the leading assurance framework for copper, molybdenum, nickel, and zinc, enabling a sustainable society through the responsible production, sourcing, and recycling of these metals.

To achieve this vision, The Copper Mark is accelerating the development of a full value chain approach that will connect companies, stakeholders, and consumers, ensuring responsible practices across the supply chain.

The Copper Mark is also working with the Mining Association of Canada, ICMM and the World Gold Council towards consolidating their individual voluntary responsible mining and metals standards into a single global responsible mining standard, and multi-stakeholder oversight system. The goal of this initiative is to simplify the current mining standards landscape and promote continual improvement of environmental, social and governance practices across metal and mineral value chains - from mining to smelting, refining and beyond.

It is the intention that The Copper Mark, including its Board, will transition and evolve into the entity overseeing the Standard and implementation of the related assurance process, grievance mechanism and claims policy, as well as a platform for public disclosure of information such as outcomes of assurance.

We are seeking an experienced Director of Value Chain to lead the development of the full value chain approach, starting with copper, molybdenum, nickel and zinc, and working closely with our leadership team to build on our existing tools and services.

As Director of Value Chain, reporting to the Executive Director, you will:

  • Develop and implement a value chain strategy and business model to expand the Copper Mark's impact, ensuring scalability and financial sustainability.

  • Engage with a wide range of stakeholders (fabricators, recyclers, manufacturers, regulators, investors, NGOs, and more) to promote value chain services and initiatives.

  • Lead efforts to harmonize standards across sectors, promote data flow, and improve environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices along the value chain.

  • Identify and address gaps in the value chain that may hinder certification, proposing solutions to drive efficiency, sustainability, and compliance.

  • Collaborate with internal teams to foster long-term collaboration and sustainability across the minerals and metals value chain.

You will bring:

  • Significant experience in business development, supply chain management, assurance, or consulting, with expertise in the minerals and metals sectors.

  • Strong knowledge of standards and assurance frameworks in mining, minerals, and metals (e.g., RMI, Responsible Steel, EcoVadis, Global Battery Alliance).

  • Familiarity with supply chain due diligence, sustainability initiatives, and regulatory developments (e.g., green claims, carbon trading).

  • Strategic mindset with the ability to align value chain activities with sustainability and certification goals, and strong process improvement and risk management skills, particularly in consulting for certification and assurance programs.

  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.

The position is based remotely and reports to The Copper Mark Executive Director. The position requires significant time zone overlap with Europe, and good overlap with North and Latin America.

This is a great opportunity to play a leading role in delivering a vision for a full life-cycle approach to metals and minerals production that promotes positive contributions to society, addresses its impacts on people and the environment, and supports progress to a circular economy.
