We at Acre are delighted to be partnering with Earthbanc to identify and appoint the Director of Agro Commodities (Global).
About Them
Earthbanc is a mission driven business that supports the development of agroforestry, reforestation and carbon projects. They support landowners to grow new forests and restore ecosystems that bring back biodiversity and support farmers with new sources of potential revenue. Earthbanc supports communities on the front line of climate change and engages with farmers, landholders and NGOs.
Earthtree is present in Kenya and India, and the subsidiaries of Earthbanc that develop agroforestry projects. In both countries, Earthtree supports landowners to grow new agroforest systems in a highly data driven manner, supporting farmers with new potential sources of revenue.
They support communities to help their land regeneration goals and engage with farmers, and landholders to help them achieve their land productivity goals. Agro commodities are a key part of the strategy for increasing revenue per hectare for the landowner, enabling a sustainable cash flow, so that landowners are incentivised to keep the trees on their land for project duration.
About the role
The Director of Agro Commodities (Global) is responsible for leading the procurement, trading, and distribution of agricultural commodities across international markets. This role requires deep industry knowledge, strategic vision, and strong leadership to manage global supply chains, ensure sustainable sourcing, and drive business growth.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement global strategies for sourcing, trading, and marketing of agro commodities such as grains, oilseeds, pulses, and other agricultural products.
Oversee procurement, logistics, and supply chain operations to ensure efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers, buyers, traders, and other key stakeholders worldwide.
Monitor global market trends, economic conditions, and geopolitical factors affecting agricultural trade.
Ensure compliance with local international trade regulations, tax identification and reporting internally to finance managers, track sustainability standards, and buyers policies and requirements.
Lead negotiations and contracts to optimise profitability and risk management.
Develop short form agro commodity market feasibility studies and recommend crop growing to meet buyer demand locally and or globally.
Identify if processing and equipment may be required for each type of crop to enable sales and scale up further sales.
Collaborate with internal teams including finance, legal, and operations to align business objectives.
Drive innovation in agro commodity trading, including digital solutions and sustainable sourcing initiatives.
Represent the company in industry conferences, trade associations, and governmental forums.
Work with agroforestry design team to optimise production of crops that are in demand and can achieve good prices and benefits to the project and landowner.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Agribusiness, Economics, International Trade, or a related field.
Extensive experience in agro commodity trading, procurement, and supply chain management.
Proven leadership experience in a multinational or large-scale agribusiness environment.
Strong understanding of global trade regulations, risk management, and financial instruments in commodity trading.
Excellent negotiation, communication, and analytical skills.
Ability to lead cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Proficiency in multiple languages is a plus.
Good project and time management skills.
Ability to independently write short form agro-commodity market feasibility study, financial model, project scoping and reports, project management and implementation plans, project risk management plans, project cost and returns spreadsheets.
Result-oriented work approach with the ability to work quickly from concept creation to the implementation of successful projects with key stakeholders.

Technical skills that include a mixture of statistical analysis, remote sensing, carbon modelling, and/or forest biometrics.
Ability to work in an interdisciplinary team, as well as independently, with colleagues based in different locations and time zones around the globe.
Has experience of managing the harvesting, processing and selling of agro commodities such as Ginger, Lemongrass, Chillies, Mulberry or other crops.
Track record of selling over 500 tonnes of agriculture commodities per year, with experience in generating over one million dollars (USD) annually in sales.
Desirable
Willing to be based in the Shillong office / Eldoret Office, or willingness to travel and spend time in those offices.
Experience working with Indigenous stakeholders, landowners, NGOs, including negotiating landowner and land title agreements.
Able to travel to projects and spend time in the field and cooperate work with partners to survey communities, landscapes, and develop required carbon project development documentation for buyers and also registries.
Strong quantitative skills, with the ability to use data and metrics to draw conclusions and inform decisions.
Can deliver under no supervision.
The role is expected to take the initiative and be a part of defining and refining the project strategy and documentation, bringing their unique knowledge and skills to collaboration, and incorporating these into the briefs in order to create project outcomes for farmers, nature and stakeholders.
Experience of communicating to a diverse range of audiences.
Experience designing and presenting strategies, plans, processes, metrics, and information in a clear and comprehensible manner.
Ability to remain calm and focused in stressful or complex situations.
Good knowledge of data analysis and key performance indicators.
