Richard started and has spent a large part of his career in specialist energy consultancy. Over 9 years he has worked on the implementation of most of the UK’s / EU’s energy and emissions policies – including being a technical advisor to the Environment Agency on the CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme (CRC) and secretariat to the European Commission’s EU ETS Compliance Forum.
He is adept at reviewing compliance across a wide-range of policies, having been an appointed auditor for the Environment Agency on the Climate Change Agreement (CCA) programme, CRC scheme and having undertaken an EU-wide review of Member States’ implementation of the EU ETS’ new regulations for Phase III of the system on behalf of the European Commission.
In his present role Richard is responsible for Aggregate Industries’ compliance with all energy-related legislation including the EUETS, CRC, ESOS, pollution inventory reporting and carbon taxation. He identifies trends in carbon pricing and energy policy that could impact on the business and where needed, creates opportunities to enhance both business performance and brand.
He informs our energy efficiency projects, ensuring the political, environmental, economic, social, technological and legal considerations of the project are identified, evaluated and managed at both national and local level, whilst ensuring opportunities for innovative solutions and competitive advantage are identified and realised.
Going forward, Richard will be continuing to develop his energy engineering knowledge and expertise through involvement in Aggregate Industries’ broad range of engineering, energy management and innovation projects.
