Minerals and metals are essential for modern living. Among other things, they enable farming, healthcare, communications, water and energy supply, transport, space technology and the construction of our cities.
Investments in natural resources do not always lead to positive social and economic outcomes for human wellbeing, our planet, or the prosperity of host communities and nations. This does not have to be the case; when mining and metals companies act responsibly, the extraction and management of natural resources can be transformative for the lives of employees, their families, local communities and entire nations.
Bringing together 27 mining and metals company members and over 35 national, regional and commodity association members, ICMM has a truly global reach, and uses this platform to strengthen the social and environmental performance of the mining and metals industry while building recognition of its contribution to local communities and society at large.
