Acre is delighted to be working with a leading fashion and apparel retailer to recruit a Project Manager based in Bangalore, India, responsible for overseeing the successful delivery of a suite of tailor-made innovative programmes to support the protection of worker rights and wellbeing of workers in line with international frameworks such as the UNGPs and SDGs.
Reporting to the Senior Ethical Trade Manager in India and part of the global projects team, the role will focus on planning and overseeing project implementation. Many of the projects are currently in South India with the opportunity to grow the project portfolio to other parts of the country. Key priorities will include active stakeholder engagement with partner organisations and factory management; developing and overseeing project monitoring and evaluation frameworks; ensuring continuous learning in the further development of the project portfolio; and working closely with the India team to deliver an integrated and holistic in-country ethical trade programme.
Additional responsibilities include:
Designing and implementing an appropriate project management structure
Identifying relevant external meetings and discussions and represent the Ethical Trade Team
Preparing specific project-related briefings/presentations for internal and external use
Monitoring and reporting on socio-economic developments of relevance to the programme - for example worker rights, FoA and minimum wages; policy reforms, NGO/media campaigns, new programmes or initiatives
Helping to identify and address research gaps to inform development of the global project portfolio and individual project design
Line managing a Project Implementation Executive and Project Coordinator
Regularly engaging with relevant external stakeholders, to understand other programmes and initiatives and how they relate to the programme
The successful candidate will have extensive experience of running projects and of successfully managing multiple projects in complex contexts.
In addition, you will have:
Experience of successfully managing multiple projects in complex contexts across the full project management cycle
Written and verbal fluency in English (Tamil and/or Hindi an asset)
Excellent communication skills and the ability to build trust with multiple stakeholders including workers, factory management and third parties
An interest in ethical trade issues in the garment industry
The ability to collate and present statistics in written and visual form
The ability to travel domestically on a regular basis and occasionally internationally
