Acre is pleased to be working with a well respected and ambitious boutique consultancy, looking to expand their team with the strategic hire of a Principal Sustainability Consultant. This individual will be responsible for ongoing management of the Sustainability Strategy service line and offerings, developing the associated business plan and hitting revenue and profitability targets. The Principal Sustainability Consultant will have management accountability for a team of 6 and will be responsible for resourcing the service line to ensure successful project delivery for an impressive order book of blue chip and FTSE100 businesses.

The Principal Sustainability Consultant will be responsible for:

  • Working across the corporate sustainability landscape to address the challenges presented by a changing climate in key areas such as; science based targets, carbon, water and biodiversity risk assessment, emissions reduction strategy, scope 3 reporting, and supply chain engagement programmes
  • Building a sustainability consultancy offering, hitting revenue and profitability targets as laid out in the business plan
  • Allocating marketing and training budgets, alongside providing input on resourcing and hiring decisions of the broader advisory team
  • Managing 6 direct reports and working closely with all members of the advisory and commercial teams to achieve expansion of the team to 12 FTE
The successful candidate will be a driven and commercially astute sustainability professional with a strong consultancy toolkit and experience developing solutions for FTSE and Blue Chip clients.

The successful individual will have:

  • A track record of building and managing teams that deliver sustainability consultancy into the private sector, including leading on business development activity
  • Experience of working in a consultative manner, understanding client needs and developing solutions
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present information with confidence to various stakeholders, alongside leading client workshops and representing the company at industry events
  • Knowledge of issues surrounding climate change including; risks and opportunities, adaption, strategy, science based targets, reporting frameworks (CDP, GRI), impact assessment, supply chains, legislation, water
