Deputy Head of Ethical and Responsible Investment

Acre is proudly engaged on a retained basis to recruit a Deputy Head of Ethical and Responsible Investment (E&RI) to join CCLA, one of the UK's largest charity fund managers.

CCLA manages investments for charities, religious organisations and the public sector. CCLA is largely owned by their clients' funds. Their products and services have a strong long-term performance record, are fairly priced and are managed responsibly.

Responsible investment is at the centre of CCLA's investment process and the company has a track record of delivering change through their stewardship programme.

The successful individual will act as Deputy to the Head of Ethical and Responsible Investment by providing cover and support across all of CCLA's E&RI activity. Responsibilities include:

  • Developing new stewardship programmes on a range of topics, for example biodiversity, public health, cyber security and inequality
  • Delivering CCLA's existing stewardship programmes on issues such as compliance with international norms and alcohol responsibility
  • Client facing activities; working with CCLA's existing and prospective clients, to develop appropriate and implementable ethical investment policies
  • Working closely with investment team to further integrate environmental, social and governance factors
  • Providing specialist E&RI support to the Market Development Team
Experience sought:
  • Robust analytical, organizational and communication skills
  • Demonstrate knowledge of a wide range of environmental, social and governance topics
  • A track record of developing and delivering impactful projects that change the behaviour of corporates or regulators
  • Experience in responsible investment, or a related profession
  • Empathy with the values of CCLA's client base
Advantageous is experience of working with and presenting to external clients.

This is an opportunity to make a significant contribution to a mainstream investment manager whilst supporting the particular needs and challenges facing charity investors.
