Reporting into the Operations Manager, the ideal candidate will have a strong working knowledge of Local Authorities; with the ability support them in understanding the business case for service changes nationally. This will be achieved by providing technical support to local authorities so they can assess the options that will help them to increase recycling, increase customer service and provide best value for money waste collection and recycling services.
Establish and maintain close working relationships with relevant partners at a director and elected member level Deliver excellent, professional customer service to all stakeholders, utilising the organisation's processes and systems to ensure activity, projects and engagement are recorded Broker links and provide coordination to other teams and colleagues who may be engaged with stakeholders within your portfolio
Engage with local authorities on technical and policy issues relevant to the delivery of waste and recycling services, provide them with advice on alternative approaches to service design Provide technical advice directly to local authorities on strategic approaches to, and technical aspects of, collection and recycling service options
The successful candidate will be the key point of contact for a number of the UK's local authorities nationally. You will be based from Manchester, providing appropriate technical input and advice to support implementation of service change with some national travel across the UK.
Skills and capabilities:
Strong understanding of local authority structures and decision-making processes Deep knowledge of the range of collection services, sorting and treatment technologies in operation in the UK and the relevant policy and legislative context Experience of operational planning and delivering recycling and waste collection services including rolling out new services and implementing service changes Practical experience of developing business cases in support of new services Demonstrable experience of writing reports combined with the confidence to present, communicate and deliver workshops

In this role you will be responsible for ensuring customer accounts are managed by producing and delivering packaging data submissions.
Additional responsibilities include:
Providing expert advice to customers on producer responsibility and relevant legislation in the UK Collecting the correct data to produce accurate calculations using the relevant methods and bespoke software, and ensuring data meets regulatory requirements Supporting the generation of new business opportunities for existing and new customers and assisting in the preperation of new business proposals and tenders Developing relationships with regulators and compliance schemes to ensure customers are registered under the relevant legislation
