Acre is working in exclusive partnership with ITRI, the leading tin membership body, to support on their search for a Sustainability Specialist. The organisation represents the tin industry and is supported by the world's most important tin producers and smelters to encourage the use of tin in excising and new applications.

This newly created role will work with the Director of Sustainability in the research, implementation, reporting and communication of activities driving improvements in the sustainability of global tin industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Working with the major tin producing ITRI members and the wider global tin industry to demonstrate commitment to sustainability and positive development
  • Providing support to industry members on new activities designed to address upcoming challenges of responsible sourcing in locations such as, Indonesia, Nigeria and Bolivia
  • Assisting in research and reporting on complex socio-political and environmental challenges in potentially high-risk or conflict-affected areas relevant to tin production
  • Leading on the creation of positive communications documents, managing relevant website areas, including drafting responses to media or NGO allegations of concern
  • Analysing upcoming global legislation and supply chain issues ensure legal requirements relating to ITRI and its members operations are understood and met

Reporting into the Director of Sustainability, the successful candidate will develop a clear understanding of the business methods of the tin sector. You will establish the sustainability objectives in order to represent ITRI effectively and confidently in the Responsible Tin Supply group, in discussions with CFSI and at external meetings as necessary.

Skills and capabilities:

  • Experience of working within a sustainability/environmental role with an understanding of supply chain issues, ideally with a social focus
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills with proven ability to influence and engage at a range of levels
  • Relevant on the ground experience to understand the complex socio-economic issues is highly desirable
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage with members both verbally and in written format, producing industry specific reports to a high standard
  • Open to international travel
