Senior Advisor - Business Development

Acre is delighted to be working with ETI to identify an accomplished Senior Business Development Advisor. This person will develop and implement initiatives to build and broaden ETI's membership base, developing and maintaining links with potential and existing company members, to ensure ETI's long-term growth and sustainability.

Senior Business Development Advisor

The Ethical Trading Initiative is an alliance of companies, trade unions and voluntary organisations working in partnership to improve the lives of workers across the globe who make or grow consumer goods. The UK Modern Slavery Act and other legislation is driving companies to give serious attention to how to tackle labour rights violations, assess human rights due diligence and provide adequate remediation to workers who are victims of exploitation. The ETI are viewed as a global leader in offering multi-stakeholder and long-term solutions to complex and challenging issues, striving to achieve respect for workers worldwide.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Development and delivery of the strategic plan for ETI's membership offering, aligning the plan with ETI s broader priorities and maximising its effectiveness through collaboration with the wider team.
  • Recruitment of diverse new members and partners, innovating and researching prospective relationships and bringing new ideas and approaches to build ETI's membership base, both in the UK and internationally.
  • Induction and management of new members, including arranging seminars and training events.
  • Keeping abreast of trends and news by attending relevant external networking events.
  • Production of status and finance reports to ensure comprehensive and regular financial management processes and analysis of progress towards income targets.
  • Leadership and support on bespoke consultancy work as necessary.
Required experience:
  • Degree-level education ideally in a business-related subject.
  • Demonstrable experience in a business development, sales or marketing role with a significant track record in building, developing and closing strategic partnership opportunities that meet income-related targets.
  • Experience of implementing external ethical trade standards and best-practice into a corporate supply chain, preferably within retail or manufacturing.
  • Accomplished communication abilities with excellent presentation and pitch delivery skills.
  • Project management experience incorporating planning, budgeting, scheduling and reviewing.
