Acre is working in exclusive partnership with leading non-profit organisation, WRAP (Waste Resource Action Plan) to identify a brand new Head of Programme: Consumer Food Waste Prevention. WRAP works in collaboration with the largest private sector companies and governments, re-inventing how we design, produce and sell products. This role has been created to lead the development and implementation of the Consumer Food Waste Prevention Programme that will be responsible for catalysing consumer behaviour change to enable the wider community to take action.

Reporting into the Director of Business Programmes, the ideal candidate will support and evolve a flexible and adaptable team of eight. You will develop and lead the application of behavioural change thinking to deliver measurable changes in citizen attitudes and actions.

Core responsibilities:

  • Leading the development and implementation of the new food waste prevention strategy
  • Providing leadership, acting as a role model and effectively managing all contributors to the programme; both direct and indirect team members
  • Developing and leading a community of best practice of behaviour change within WRAP whilst effectively managing a £3-£3.5million budget
  • Using a range of insights and evidence to create and deliver highly effective, cost-efficient programmes that will provide the required impact for WRAP's funders
  • Creating and developing partnerships with other organisations and individuals with shared objectives

The successful candidate will demonstrate expertise through communicating the programme ethos, messaging and achievements internally. You will engage with the Board, Executive Management, and wider organisational staff, whilst also communicating externally through all forms of media to inform, engage and inspire others to change behaviour.

Skills and capabilities:

  • Strong strategic thinking skills and experience of developing and implementing strategies
  • Clear understanding and demonstrable success in the practical application of behaviour change theory
  • Track record of designing and delivering major behaviour change programmes with measurable impact on consumer actions
  • Ability to build successful partnerships in a demanding commercially orientated environment
  • Strong commercial acumen, ability to understand business constraints and drivers and adapt arguments to address these

This position is essential in developing WRAP's ability to help tackle challenges that businesses and the public sector cannot address on their own. You will create and lead the momentum to reduce UK food waste, delivering against national targets, whilst also supporting a leading voluntary organisation that is at the forefront of the environmental movement.
