Acre has partnered with Sainsbury's to hire a Head of Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability Impact.

The Head of Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability Impact will be the expert point of contact in all aspects of CR across the entire Sainsbury's business. The role will cover the operations and value chains that supply the business, together with the communities they serve and source from. As well as facilitating and prioritising the development of all activities, you will ensure Sainsbury's is working beyond the standard reporting lines, incorporating the relevant UN SDGs, UK and global commitments and Sainsbury's own annual report.

Responsibilities:

  • Drive the development and alignment of Sainsbury's CR and sustainability strategy
  • Provide expert advice, thought leadership and recommendations to the business on all aspects of ethical, environmental and economic sustainability
  • Provide governance metrics, reporting and facilitating the delivery of our sustainability plan
  • Establish the processes, systems, reporting and ultimately due diligence for those part of the plan that are legal requirements or Government / public commitments
  • Create, curate and share compelling content via internal communications, investor relations, public affairs, press and PR
The successful candidate will establish the Sainsbury's brand as synonymous with CR and sustainability. You will lead a team to be progressive and impactful. A strategic thinker, you will make sound recommendations at a senior/Board level on strategic policy, governance, process, reporting and business planning.

Core capabilities:

  • Educated to degree level with an outstanding track record of delivery in CR and sustainability
  • Good judgement, drive and influence to support a high performing team
  • Influential and able to take initiative to drive the Sainsbury's brand strategy with the Brand Strategy Leadership Team
  • Task orientated and driven to deliver Sainsbury's strategy target, shared targets, and corporate and business divisions' CR and sustainability plans within set timescales
  • A role model for subject matter excellence coupled with exemplary leadership skills
  • Excellent self awareness, naturally intuitive and respectfully assertive
