Volans is an agency for transformational change with a mission to work with leaders in global companies, innovators and governments to help them think beyond incremental change, and embrace fresh ways of creating new forms of value in a fast-changing world. They call this 'driving Breakthrough'.

Since its formation in 2008, Volans has been pursuing Breakthrough by using a distinct combination of agenda-setting, advocacy and advisory projects and services. Now Volans is creating a new role in their London-based team to lead on evolving and driving forward their strategy to help business leaders engage with the Breakthrough agenda, and to work with them to explore opportunity spaces and new forms of value.

We are looking for someone to join Volans' small but influential team as Executive Director, working closely alongside John Elkington, Volans' Co-Founder, Chairman & Chief Pollinator, who is a renowned thought-leader, writer and "advisor from the future".

Key responsibilities include:

  • Evolving Volans' Strategy alongside John, the team, and our Board and Advisory Council to scale up our reach and impact through packaging up and 'selling' our content and services to target audiences and funders alike
  • Developing and lead advocacy & campaigns around the Volans voice and offerings
  • Leading on new income opportunities from foundations and other sources - as 'Fundraiser in Chief'
  • Developing strategic partnerships at a senior level - which would include building successful platforms to influence business in partnership with other like-minded organisations

The successful candidate will have experience in translating new concepts into practical, deliverable projects and programmes, and in influencing senior people creatively, with a high level of emotional intelligence.

In addition you will have:

  • A strong track record in campaigning, communications or high-impact influencing
  • Experience in securing funding for ambitious projects
  • Demonstrated knowledge of business strategy, sustainability and partnership-building
  • Experience in corporate change management, sustainability/CSR strategy consulting, or advisory work, at a senior level
  • Exceptional communication and influencing skills
  • Experience in one or more of the following: disruptive/transformational technologies, big data, biomimicry, supply (value) chain management, public policy and/or government affairs

You are likely to be driven by:

  • An appetite to enable transformational change, by applying strategy and focus to reaching wide as well as narrow audiences; with the energy and ideas on how to tap into new/unusual networks
  • A highly entrepreneurial professional environment - unfazed by the ambiguity and uncertainty that sometimes accompanies doing something radically new
  • Engaging various audiences on complex issues, via discussion, public speaking, writing and convening

If you have what's required to help lead this small but high-impact and well-respected organization as it helps catalyse the shift from a focus on incremental sustainability to more radical transformations in the world of business; please apply directly via the Acre website - using the link below.
