Millicom is an international telecommunications and media company offering a wide range of digital services to more than 63 million customers worldwide. The Director of Corporate Responsibility and Social Investment is responsible for the execution and implementation of the Group's CR and SI strategy, ensuring it supports the company's business strategy and objectives while being responsive to stakeholder needs. The Director of CR&S reports to the Chief External Affairs Officer and has a keen eye for strategic partnerships and opportunities both inside and outside the company.
The remit for this opportunity includes:
Setting and supporting the implementation of Millicom's corporate responsibility strategy as well as managing and responding to a very dynamic risk environment
Leading Millicom's Group CR team and influence CR Managers in each operating market
Issues management of key reputational risks jointly with other teams, making and maintaining connections and building trusted relationships with civil society, academics and thought leaders.
Leading Group cross-functional team on privacy and freedom of expression
Representing Millicom at external events, presenting our work and joining panels at key events, in particular around privacy and freedom of expression
Managing social and environmental due diligence for any external financing projects as well as on-boarding new companies in M&A situations
Representing Millicom at key industry and multi-stakeholder fora, such as Global Network Initiative, GSMA working groups
Managing relationships with key global stakeholders, including leading ESG investors, NGO partners, civil societies, academics and thought leaders
Jointly with communications and marketing teams ensuring CR features prominently in company's external and internal communications to build reputational capital and employee engagement.
Driving positive collaboration and relationships internally to ensure implementation of CR strategy
Managing relationships with key global NGO partners for social investment across markets and guides markets in their social investments (including compliance of donations).
Monitoring regulation and legislation relating to CR topics, ensuring internal management systems are aligned to evolution in these areas.
Additional requirements/qualifications include:
Extensive experience working in sustainability, development, consultancy and/or strategy development positions
Proven track record in implementing policies and processes, and corporate responsibility approaches in an organization
Excellent knowledge of international and European standards and frameworks governing corporate responsibility and sustainability - and their practical implementation - including relevant reporting frameworks
Proven intercultural awareness from living and working in several countries
Bachelors or Master's Degree in Business Administration, Politics, International Relations, Communications or similar
Experience of managing crisis and implementing mitigation processes
Having an established network and relationships with international and local NGOs/civil societies working in Latin America and Africa
Fluency in English and preferably also Spanish (working knowledge Spanish required at a minimum and French is a plus)
Experience in public speaking and the use of social media and other digital communication tools.
Solid understanding of financial controlling principles and budget responsibility.
Solid understanding of current technical developments and trends (mobile and internet) and ability to transform this into potential social development and business opportunities.
