Acre is retained by BMO Global Asset Management (GAM) on an exclusive basis to recruit an experienced Governance and Sustainable Investment (GSI) Analyst to join the GSI team which plays an important role in the wider investment team.

BMO GAM is a global asset management company with c. €215 billion in AUM (as at 30 June 2017). In May 2014, they acquired F&C Asset Management, which has become the European hub of the global business.

The GSI team is the global centre of excellence for responsible investment within BMO GAM and performs three key innovative functions:

  • Leading the reo® service, which covers over €125bn in AUM for institutional clients
  • Supporting and contributing to the success of the Responsible Funds range, with €1.9bn AUM (as at 30 June 2017)
  • Working closely with BMO's internal investment teams to promote the integration of environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues within their investment processes and strategies in both developed and emerging markets

Working from our Amsterdam office, this is an opportunity to be an integral member of the GSI team and enjoy a multi-faceted role including:

  • Presenting analysis and providing guidance on the ESG risks and opportunities that impact their investments to externalreo® clients
  • Representing & promoting the GSI team/BMO GAM in the Dutch ESG marketplace
  • Helping the team to develop & grow the wider reo® business
  • Engaging with companies within the sector(s) on critical ESG topics, including at Board level
  • Responsibility for conducting analysis of ESG risks and opportunities within an allocated sector(s) and developing an engagement programme
  • Producing high-quality write-ups including analysis of individual company meetings, ESG thematic research and thought leadership
  • Working collaboratively with the investment teams, providing input on ESG related issues into their investment research processes

The successful candidate will have a demonstrable understanding of ESG risks and opportunities within an investment context and how they impact client portfolios. Strong analytical and communication skills are essential; proven experience in dialogue with companies is advantageous.

Applicants can be from a variety of backgrounds such as ESG or Corporate Governance analysis within an asset management business; fundamental investment backgrounds with a demonstrable focus on ESG investment styles or integration; and ESG service providers. Fluency in both Dutch & English is an essential for the role.
