Acre has been engaged by a leading retailer to recruit an Ethical Trade Manager within their corporate services team. With a workforce of over 130,000 staff covering operations across 500 stores, the company has created this role to demonstrate their commitment to compliance and capacity building within their supply base.
The successful candidate will drive the effectiveness of the ethical trade programme; liaising with senior managers across the business to develop and grow the strategy, and ensure better integrated processes into the business. Other responsibilities will include:
Strategic prioritisation of ethical trade issues for the business Further integration of the programme into the business to protect profitability, support long term growth and enhance reputation, e.g. through appropriate participation in assurance and benchmarking Effective management and engagement with Commercial colleagues and retail suppliers to the business to advance the programme Strong contribution to effective stakeholder links with Government and lobby groups Regular reporting requirements including for the Management Board, Corporate Compliance and Responsibility Committee and annual CR Review The successful candidate will demonstrate sound expertise in the area of ethical trade, and possess:
Experience in ethical trade systems, food retail and data analysis with keen attention to detail. Ability to develop pragmatic processes in a changing environment Ability to lead a strategic programme Strong communication and influencing skills to persuade colleagues and stakeholders outside the business Effective builder of networks across NGO’s and influential stakeholders This role will provide a unique opportunity for the right candidate, to devise, develop, and embed an innovative strategy for a recognised leader in the retail sector.
