Acre has been engaged by a leading retailer to recruit an Ethical Trade Manager within their corporate services team. With a workforce of over 130,000 staff covering operations across 500 stores, the company has created this role to demonstrate their commitment to compliance and capacity building within their supply base.
The successful candidate will drive the effectiveness of the ethical trade programme; liaising with senior managers across the business to develop and grow the strategy, and ensure better integrated processes into the business. Other responsibilities will include:
Strategic prioritisation of ethical trade issues for the business Further integration of the programme into the business to protect profitability, support long term growth and enhance reputation, e.g. through appropriate participation in assurance and benchmarking Effective management and engagement with Commercial colleagues and retail suppliers to the business to advance the programme Strong contribution to effective stakeholder links with Government and lobby groups Regular reporting requirements including for the Management Board, Corporate Compliance and Responsibility Committee and annual CR Review
The successful candidate will demonstrate sound expertise in the area of ethical trade, and possess:
Experience in ethical trade systems, food retail and data analysis with keen attention to detail. Ability to develop pragmatic processes in a changing environment Ability to lead a strategic programme Strong communication and influencing skills to persuade colleagues and stakeholders outside the business Effective builder of networks across NGO’s and influential stakeholders

Acre is working in partnership with a global commodities trader, broker and merchant to recruit an exceptional Global Sustainability Manager to focus on their coffee business. The role can be based in any location in any of their offices in Asia Pacific, Africa and Europe.
They have a prestigious coffee brand and sell to leading global coffee roasters and retail distributors. This exciting new sustainability hire is of great value to their ambitious growth plans and continued success.
In addition to creating a cohesive global supply chain strategy and streamlining all of their origin countries’ sustainable and procurement practices, key responsibilities will include:

You will drive the effectiveness of the social auditing programme, and therefore be responsible for:
Developing best practice audit standards as the basis for social compliance strategy for the entire global supply chain team Setting targets and KPIs for social auditing to ensure and demonstrate appropriate levels of compliance, due diligence and performance Evaluating and improving reporting mechanisms based on developing technology and codes of conduct; Defining performance rating system for global suppliers Reviewing all audit reports and provide recommendations for action in cases of non-compliance Monitoring and managing budget for the global social compliance programme Representing the business externally at stakeholder forums and working groups such as GSCP, SAC, and the ETI
