Principal Hydrologist

Acre is working with a well-regarded consultancy to add a Principal Hydrologist to their growing team. The ideal candidate would become a member of the consultancy’s water team working across a broad spectrum of areas, including:

Freshwater policy research and development
Environmental impact assessment and associated water quality and flood risk assessments
Regional strategic flood risk support, flood risk appraisal, planning and development risk
Business risk assessments associated with the water environment
Climate change adaptation & business continuity

Our client is seeking a senior specialist with a broad range of experience in a consultancy or regulatory organisations with particular emphasis on EIA, flood risk assessment planning and development risk elements of project work.

The ideal candidate will have:

Significant skills in water environment management in a statutory or consultancy environment Detailed understanding of flood risk assessment, current legislation, policy and emerging trends (FRA, FCA, SFRA)
Experience of planning and development control in relation to flooding issues
Understanding of flood risk modelling best practise, relative merits of modelling systems to be used
Best practice in the mitigation of flood impacts
Experience of the development of climate change adaptation strategies in relation to flood risk

Senior Ecologist

Acre has been engaged by a leading global construction, design and maintenance company to identify a Senior Ecologist to help develop and grow their in-house ecology consultancy. They offer a unique approach to asset management lifecycle services and are one of the UK's leading providers of strategic asset management services.

Job Purpose:

To develop and grow an ecology consultancy capability within their client base
To deliver ecology projects for a broad range of public and private sector clients
To work with the management team to develop an ecology business plan, focusing on providing solutions and advice to external and internal clients relating to ecology policies, strategy, legislation and design
To raise the organisation’s profile in the market sector and enhance their approach to ecology as a differentiator and USP for the business

Key Duties:

To work as part of a team of specialist consultants undertaking a variety of ecology projects for internal and external clients
To remain fully informed and keep up to date with all current and future legislation, best practice and innovation relating to ecology
To liaise with and support the corporate HSEQR team on all matters relating to ecology compliance issues affecting the business
To identify and co-ordinate the design and delivery of ecology schemes and studies
To use ecological compliance solutions and strategies to help win new business, advising clients on how they can enhance and improve their own businesses
To provide ecology advice and assessments for design and construction activities
To work with the Sustainability Consultant on work winning strategies, joint client projects and delivery of the sustainability action plan

You should have well developed ecology consultancy exposure that includes experience of interfacing with other technical disciplines in the transportation sector. Proven business development, presentation and marketing experience would also be useful as well strong communications and project management skills.

Programme Officer/ Policy Advisor – REDD+

Indonesia, · £ Competitive plus Benefits

Acre is working with a distinguished Intergovernmental Organisation, the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI), to identify an exceptional Programme Officer with a focus on REDD+ policy in Indonesia.

The individual will be responsible for providing strategic and targeted technical support to the REDD+ Team in assisting the Indonesian Government to improve and develop REDD+ funding disbursement mechanisms, and to support pilot programs which will test these mechanisms.

The successful individual will:

Play a key role in analysis of the development and implementation of REDD+ programs, policies, and related incentive structures
Help facilitate efforts in capacity-building and active participation of key stakeholders
Be involved in policy design and implementation support, public and private sector stakeholder engagement, and international knowledge sharing
Work in close cooperation with officials from the Indonesian government and external experts to design an appropriate selection mechanism for REDD+ projects
Provide support for the initial implementation of projects under the selected mechanism

All applicants must hold exemplary and relevant academic credentials, ideally a University degree in Forestry, Natural Resource Management, Environment Ecological Economics or a related field.

Other key skills and capabilities will include:

Detailed understanding of REDD+ policies and "REDD+ Readiness" mechanisms
Broad knowledge of climate finance, international climate policy, carbon markets and the social and environmental safeguard criteria related to REDD+
Broad knowledge on the required enabling environment to ensure a successful REDD+ programme as well as the challenges and opportunities facing REDD+
Familiarity with the Indonesia National REDD+ Strategy and other related government plans at national and local levels
Ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships with leaders from a diverse array of sectors (government, business, NGO and community groups)
Strong oral and written English and fluency in Indonesian/Bahasa is essential

Ecology Consultant

Acre has been engaged by a leading global construction, design and maintenance company to identify Ecologists to help support their in-house nationwide ecology consultancy. This will be on a part-time basis, dependent on the volume of their work.

Job Purpose:

To deliver ecology projects for a broad range of public and private sector clients
To undertake a variety of ecological surveys, including protected species and habitat surveys
To provide ecology advice, assessments, designs and specifications for projects
To ensure the expected levels of technical excellence are met

Successful candidates will have:

Well developed ecology consultancy exposure
Recognised technical excellence in one or more areas of Ecology; Bat, Dormouse and Great Crested Newt licences are of particular interest
Experience of interfacing with other technical disciplines in the transportation/industrial sector
Experience of working in multi-disciplinary teams
Experience of preparing ecology reports

Strong communications and project management skills, as well as good presentation and reporting abilities, will be highly beneficial.
