Acre is working with a distinguished Intergovernmental Organisation, the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI), to identify an exceptional Programme Officer with a focus on REDD+ policy in Indonesia.
The individual will be responsible for providing strategic and targeted technical support to the REDD+ Team in assisting the Indonesian Government to improve and develop REDD+ funding disbursement mechanisms, and to support pilot programs which will test these mechanisms.
The successful individual will:
Play a key role in analysis of the development and implementation of REDD+ programs, policies, and related incentive structures Help facilitate efforts in capacity-building and active participation of key stakeholders Be involved in policy design and implementation support, public and private sector stakeholder engagement, and international knowledge sharing Work in close cooperation with officials from the Indonesian government and external experts to design an appropriate selection mechanism for REDD+ projects Provide support for the initial implementation of projects under the selected mechanism All applicants must hold exemplary and relevant academic credentials, ideally a University degree in Forestry, Natural Resource Management, Environment Ecological Economics or a related field.
Other key skills and capabilities will include:
Detailed understanding of REDD+ policies and "REDD+ Readiness" mechanisms Broad knowledge of climate finance, international climate policy, carbon markets and the social and environmental safeguard criteria related to REDD+ Broad knowledge on the required enabling environment to ensure a successful REDD+ programme as well as the challenges and opportunities facing REDD+ Familiarity with the Indonesia National REDD+ Strategy and other related government plans at national and local levels Ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships with leaders from a diverse array of sectors (government, business, NGO and community groups) Strong oral and written English and fluency in Indonesian/Bahasa is essential The successful individuals will be part of a global team at GGGI.
