As a mother of two young children, Julia understands how important her new role as the CSR lead for Walgreens Boots Alliance Asia Sourcing is: “Treat the Earth well” because “it was not given to you by your parents; it was loaned to you by your children” (Quote from a Kenyan Proverb).
She have been working in the Merchandising field in Hong Kong and China for over 10 years, sourcing a wide range of products from all of over Asia for different markets. After joining WBA, Julia was immediately impressed by its commitment to sustainable development on Environment, Community, Marketplace and Workplace. She was appointed WBA’s Sustainability lead for the Asia region last year, and now has the chance to not only develop the Supplier Sustainability program in China in order to promote sustainable manufacturing, but also drive the whole CSR agenda in the region.
Throughout the year in her CSR role, she have implemented many new initiatives through the regional CSR team, including promoting a paperless office, developing the Supplier Sustainability program in China, delivering loads of boxes of gifts to poor and needy children in China, setting up the private nursing room for mothers in the Hong Kong office and implementing the women in leadership program. One of her biggest achievements is to create a culture of sustainability within the office.
